OK, I may be overdoing it a bit. When I open my taingate and look at the bottom edge I see faint rust begining to show. In the center of the taigate frame (the part not visible when it's closed) ther are a series of 6 or so spot welds. They look like small circular impressions. There is a slight amount of rust beginning to show on each one. Any body else got this? It would be real tough to see on a darker van because it's in the early stages, but it's definately there. I don't have a digital camera, but if I can borrow one I'll take a photo. Then I'll have to figure out how to get it posted, but that's another story.

I noticed the exact same thing on my 99 EX. Right on the spot welds. But hey, I live in Chicagoland where they salt the roads like there's no tomorrow. I have seen similar spots in every vehicle I've owned. Usually it will come off with some mild rubbing compund and stay off with some wax.

We have a '04 Integra and I have notices the same round rust spots inside the trunk lid for at least a couple of years. It is rather baffling but the good news is that it has been entirely benign. Good luck!

I have waxed the inner metal surfaces of doors & hatches on my 89 Integra, 2001 Odyssey & 2003 Accord. WI also salts the roads heavily during Winter, but not as heavily as the Chicago area. The exhaust swirl accelerates the rusting process on the vehicle's rear. I try to keep it clean with a wet rag every few weeks.

Have gone through 4 cans of Bondo patching up my 89 Integra in recent years, but the waxing can't hurt. Should I have considered factory or aftermarket rustproofing? Thought the verdict was that it was not worth it.
