Hello,

Two days ago, the temp and compass display on the interior rearview mirror went out. The little map lights under the mirror also quit working. I have read everywhere trying to determine which fuse runs that mirror, but can find nothing. I pulled and checked all the fuses that I "thought" might be the one, but they are all good. I unplugged the mirror and tested the plug for voltage.... got nothing on the voltmeter.

I am assuming it may be a power supply issue to the mirror as opposed to the mirror itself, but I am at a loss as to how that plug suddenly lost power.

If anyone has seen this before, or has any ideas as to which fuse goes to that mirror I would most certainly appreciate it! :)

Thanks for any advice.

I would guess that if it was a fuse, more things would not work. Most likely a connector became unplugged or a wire is broken or making a poor connection. I think Googling may be of quicker assistance.
I don't have those nice features on my Ody. Must come with the Nav feature.

I'm with you on the fuse thing.... everything else works!
No NAV on mine either. We must have gotten an odd duck or something. It has leather and seat heaters and such as well as the temp and compass mirror... but no rear entertainment or NAV screen. Who knows.
You are right about googling my problem. I have for hours. Seems like no one else in the world has this exact problem! :-(

Thanks for your responses.

Did you buy the van new? The reason I ask is that I am not aware of a rearview mirror with temp being an option. I would find the closest connection to the mirror and verify that it is getting power. If not I would start trying to trace the power wire to a fuse.

That is a good question.
We bought the van when it was 2 years old and had 30K miles on it. It is very possible that the original owner had it put in at the dealer as an aftermarket option.
I have put a voltmeter on the plug. There are 4 terminal ends to the plug that have wires coming to them. I tried all combinations with the voltmeter probes and got no voltage off of any of them with the key in the on position. I suppose that since the manual makes no mention of a fuse for that mirror, and since no one else seems to have heard of it, then I am on my own with this one. I will pull the A-pillar covers off this weekend and try to discover where the power wire originates. Hopefully it is at the fuse panel and I will be able to easily tell.

Thanks for your thoughts on this! If you any more please share.

Do you have a test light? If you do I would use this to test for power. I also assume that they wired this in so it would only come on with the ignition so I would assume they would have wired it with something that only comes on when the ignition is on. If it was professionally installed than it most likely has an inline fuse probably near what ever circuit they tapped into.

I found out what it is I have in my van.
It is a Donnelly power mirror. It is a Honda OEM part according to the forums I read and was (at the time) an option for the van. Donnelly mirrors are made by a company called Magna. I found a pdf of instructions on how to install it and according to the illustrations, it plugged into a wire harness that is inside of the overhead console / map light thing on the ceiling. I really didn't want to have to remove the overhead console to investigate this, but it looks like that is where I will at least start. I checked all the fuses in the fuse boxes, and there are not any fuses that shouldn't be there.

I'll update this thread when I find anything as there may be someone else in the future who might have this problem.

Thanks again!

So I was correct in my assumption that it was a power supply issue.
I stood on my head to look up under the driver side dash and found a fuse link all by itself that "looked" like it didn't belong there. I pulled the fuse and found it to be good, however, the prongs were dirty and corroded looking. I cleaned them off and reinserted the fuse into the fuse holder. I turned the key on and ta-daa.... the mirror came back to life! :)

So.... for those of you who might have this problem in the future.... and your Donnelly mirror is one that was possible installed at the dealer as an option, look up under the dash on the driver's side for a fuseable link attached to a single wire that looks out of place with the factory wiring. That might be your problem. It was mine.

Thanks to those who responded to this thread. I appreciate the thoughts on the matter.
