How to remove a front door?

A deer ran into the driver's door. I have a replacement used door, the whole assembly minus the interior panel, but before I go whacking at the van with wrenches, has anyone replaced a front door?

The whole door, that is…glass, mirror, everything. I know how to remove the interior panel and I understand the front fender must be removed (I'm replacing that, too, anyway), but are there any gotchas? Any hidden bolts? Any difficulties disconnecting the electrics under the dash? Do the sockets fit through the hole in the door frame? Any tricks to align the new door while bolting it on?

I'm halfway through teardown and found that my van has a more complex wiring harness than the used door and a cigarette-sized black box screwed into the door panel just below the interior panel brace. Of course the new door doesn't have the square holes for the plastic clips that the box screws into, so I'm going to have to improvise, I guess. Weird that one wire pair to the door strike area is hard-wired rather than connected via a harness. Perhaps your diagrams will shed light.

Yeah, enough to bend the intrusion beam so the window won't go down, bend the door so it binds at the hinge, and took the mirror off.

Luckily, it hit the van rather than vice versa. Everyone in the van was OK.

Of note for future need is that the door electrical harness in a 2003-2004 Ody is different than the 1999-2002 replacement I bought and required me to swap all the electrics.

Fun times.

Depending on what climate you are from, you might consider spraying the inside panel with rustproofing while in there.

Just in case the black box and mystery hard-wires can't be figured out, I'll suggest that it might be a LoJack transceiver. I found one in the last car (used) I bought. When LoJack sells you the product, apparently they don't even tell the owner where they put the transceiver.
