Hello,

I recently inherited my 2003 Ody from my in-laws. This weekend we are making a long trip so I decided to change the oil. When I crawled under, the bottom side of the transmission and the oil pan was covered in a layer of oil. I cleaned it all up and let it run for a few minutes. I got back under and found this leak next to that black cover you can unscrew and pop off. This forms rather quickly. I can wipe it and watch the oil form at that crack in about 2-3 minutes. It eventually works it's way rearward as you can see. I pulled that little black inspection cover off and it doesn't look like any oil is leaking from the inside for it was rather dry. Any idea what this might be?

It is most likely the RMS.

Oil pan "gasket" leaks are rare, because Honda uses "Hondabond" sealant for that application.

Both our 2002 EX and 2003 EX have endured RMS leaks. They have been reduced considerably by using ATP AT-205 seal conditioner. There are no guarantees, and it works very slowly. It is not a fast-acting seal sweller.

Darn. Thanks for the information... Stinking ATs.

I bought some Lucas Oil leak stopper from Walmart the morning of our trip and it has seemed to help the leak considerably. If it creeps back up, I will try some of that AT-205.
