+1, the EGR gasket is a different variety. It has some metallic flakes. With a car that old, you will likely destroy old gasket on removal, but the new
one should only be couple of bucks at car parts store. Make sure you clean both the EGR pedestal and the valve mating surfaces. These gaskets
like to leave residue behind. Put on dry, nothing extra required.
 
Just did this on a 1998 Accord (to facilitate maintenance on the VTEC spool valve assembly...the EGR valve looks identical to the ones on our pair of Gen 2 Odysseys). Just use the gasket. It's similar in construction to gaskets used on flat mating surfaces for exhaust system components (like mufflers). The EGR valve does not get anywhere near as hot as other items that have exhaust gases run through them, so no need for anti-seize, either (I use nickel-based anti-seize on catalytic converter nuts & bolts).
