Hi,
The bump stop for the brake light switch on our 2000 Odyssey finally disintegrated so we installed a Dorman brand replacement. The brake lights work normally.

Now I realize that the cruise control doesn't work. The switch on the dash will not activate the system so the switch on the steering wheel is completely ignored.

I have read about faulty brake light switches effecting cruise control but it seems like the switch works fine. Is it possibly in need of a set screw adjustment, or some kind of ODB code clear/reset?

Thank you.

When you step on the brake pedal, one set of contacts closes and that turns the brake lights on.
When you step on the brake pedal, another set of contacts opens and that disengages the cruise control.
I suppose you could play with the adjustment (more space between switch and pedal) on the switch to see if you can get it to he close the contacts that operate the cruise control. Dorman electrical parts aren't really highly rated by many.

Dorman stuff is junk. However, that said, if the part was just a stop and not an actual electrical part then it's probably fine. Buffalo4 is correct. The switch has two sets of contacts in it. Most likely, it's just out of adjustment.

This is very interesting. My cruise control has been acting up and only works 99% when it's warm outside. If it's less than 60 degrees, there is 90% chance it won't engage. I might have to check this switch under the foot pedal too.

I don't know. They saved me over $1,000 on a TIPM for my Jeep Compass by offering a flashed model on Rock Auto. I was pulling my hair out for over a year trying to figure out why my passenger low beams weren't working. Dorman was the only company I could find that offered plug-and-play TIPMs.
