But let's see just how comfortable those foldaway second row seats are in comparison...
I experienced them before a neighbor traded for a 5th gen Odyssey. He liked the foldablilty but never sat in them.... that was his riders issue.

I take visitors for multi-day trips. They thought they were pampered in my 4th gen, in the 5th gen they may never go home!

Lol I love how "how quick a minivan" is is being discussed at length. It's a minivan lol
Yeah I mean most people don’t buy a minivan to ride it into battle every day, but I mean there’s one dude on here that crashed his while autocrossing it. Personally, I just put this license plate frame on my 2023 “Sport”:

Definitely. I was trying to be practical in my choice, it’s a minivan after all, not a speed racer. However, the Odyssey is actually fun to drive. It has a lot of guts and being able to stomp it when you need to is really nice. I loved my 2005 Odyssey, one reason I kept it so long and this one is even more powerful.

Chrysler ... kind of ... with Mitsubishi engine, different turbocharger, running gear by AMC (which was purchased by Chrysler) ... so, it's a Chrysler in name only ... which is why it actually runs.

Anyways, some turbo-AWD-minivan candy:

"A-10 Warthog" or "AH-64D Apache Gunship" would be legit :B

Well I got the Sonic Pearl Gray with the blackout "sport" trim. two dudes at the dealership told me how good they thought it looked, and when I showed them my license plate frame their knees buckled from laughing so hard.

I find it strange that people think that Sienna interior is better than the Odyssey. There is really no comparison IMO and I came out of a fully loaded current gen Audi Q7 into a loaded 2023 Odyssey and was pretty happy. The new Sienna is incredibly cheap and tries to make up for it with design (but is ultimately unergonomic as a result, especially the high fixed height armrests). The XSE leatherette is more plastic than leatherette. Can go on.

Look at this comparison of the door panels:

I have not sat in a current Sienna but good to know. Since you came from a big body Q7, the interior quality on Ze German is in a different league for sure and you have a good basis of comparison. Overall I'm happy with the interior of the car. Remember, it's a family van/hauler so it has to have a balance between hard-wearing, easy to clean materials and feeling somewhat premium.

My last car had an LS3 V8 and a stick shift. If I'm getting a minivan, I'm getting the fastest one. Also I've always preferred Honda's chassis tuning and steering over Toyotas, even a decade ago when it was Pilot vs Highlander and the Highlander was actually faster.

However my Odyssey's interior, especially the dash and the door panels, is infuriatingly cheap and boring looking. Normally I drive too fast to notice.
Was it a C6?

Why did you ultimately choose the Honda?

If I had to pick between the two I'd probably pick the Odyssey just because of the better powertrain setup. They're both going to have some quality issues.

The Odyssey is unreliable mostly compared to its predecessors, not its competition today.
I traded my 2012 Sienna Limited, which was the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned, for a 2023 Odyssey because of the V6 power train. I drove the new hybrid Sienna and was unimpressed by the power train and quality of the interior. So far, ~4000 miles, I am satisfied with my decision. That said, and although I have had no problems with this Odyssey, I must admit I have concerns, based on previous bad experiences with Honda, over transmission reliability.

The transmission in the current Odyssey shares nothing with the transmissions from a decade+ ago. I am unaware of any real issues with the 10AT.

Side note - any Honda with a 9AT uses a ZF transmission, NOT a Honda designed/built transmission.
Thanks for clearing that up. I had wrongly assumed the 9AT was manufactured by Aisin (Japan). A quick Google search does mention ZF and the problematic 9AT.

One very important point that isn't being discussed about Odyssey vs. Sienna reliability is total number of units.

For the 5th gen Odyssey 2018-2022 Honda sold 400,830 and 2018-2022 Sienna Toyota only sold 225,764 so even if Honda does have the exact same failure rate as Toyota there are going to be way more Odyssey's with issues just because there are more Odysseys than Siennas, not because they are less reliable.
