I've just started to notice that on the new Caravan, when the driver turns the signal light on, the headlight on that side goes out (in DRL mode). While the signal flashes, the headlight remains off and returns when the signal stops. Apparently this is intentional. Will this feature be industry standard? I'd wager a no.

I just sold my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan last week. I had it for 15 months and never noticed that. Sounds like a dumb feature!

Can you imagine all the people driving around at night who forget their turn signal is one and only have 1 headlight lit?!

I'd go out and look, but it's gone now. :stupid: My new Ody is on it's way!

This feature is only in Daytime Running Lights (DRL) mode on canadian Caravans, the regular headlights don't turn off like that when flashing.

Yes...it's the DRL function and will only do it when the signal is activated. GM did that with its Blazer, Jimmy, and Bravada in 1998 or something. The reason for that is visibility issue with flashing signal light mixing with DRL. That way, people will notice more with the signal.

Then why do it halfway, GM should make headlight blink with turn signal :stupid:
DOT rules only allow flashing headlights on certified emergency vehicles.
