Definitely post your pictures! It would be very helpful to our fellow Ody owners!

i have us & can wiring diagrams for 07 ody & 08 ridgeline. Can email them to whoever wants.
i am yet to hook up my dtrl's but want to get done asap. was going to pay someone to do it but nobody here hooks up how i want them done (i want exactly same as canada version, highbeams @ reduced power with taillights on). i live in calgary. i tried autotemp & ara. anyone know of installer that hooks up as above?

Buzzing Noise with fog light relay

Guys.

Has anyone got the Hamsar with the foglights installed in their van? I just completed my installation of the 45035 (thanks for all the info in this thread) but now, when the ignition is turned on and the DRL activated, the Fog Light Relay (#1) is buzzing like crazy (!!).

It appears that the fog light relay that disables the fog lights when the high beams are on is causing the noise and it is probably due to the low voltage from the DRL module going to this relay. For now, I have clipped the solenoid wire to this relay and it appears to have fixed the issue. By doing this, I have now disabled the fog lights from turning off when the high beams are on. I am not sure if this will be an issue but I would like to get some opinions on what others have done to overcome this.

Please help.

Thanks and I love these DRLs on my 07 Odyssey :)

Guys, I haven't forgot about you.

Over the holidays I finally got around to taking some pictures of my HAMSAR 45035 DRL installation showing what wires the Honda dealer tapped. I was planning to post them a couple of weeks ago but have run into an electrical problem that I think may be related to the DRL install.

On a long drive over the holidays, I noticed the rear wiper stopped working, then when we stopped, the drivers side passenger door would not unlock via the electronic locks which prevents the power sliding door from working (manual unlock and door open still work). Everything else seemed fine with the vehicle... weird to say the least. Leave the vehicle off for 2-10+ minutes, restart and everything works again for a while. I have not been able reliably reproduce the problem behaviour.

Unplugged the DRL module between Christmas and New Years and have not seen the problem reoccur... although we have not been driving it that much so time will tell.

So bottom line is I have some good pics but until I solve this weird problem, I don't want to post them and have someone run into the same issue. I am confident that the high beam, lo beam, parking brake, +12V and Ground are correct. The iginition tap and starter sensor tap are done in different spots than people posting on this thread. DRL functionality works perfect but no good if I can't unlock the door (

I plan to pick up the Helms Repair and Electrical manual for the van when I am in the US next month and will try to verify the connections the Honda dealer did on the DRL module.

Well good news. Dealer found the electrical problem. The Rear Control Module was fried/malfunctioning. This thing is located in the cargo area between the rear heater and the tailgate. Had nothing to do with my DRL install which has been working perfect for the past 3 weeks. So here are the promised pics from my DRL install.

Pic 1 below is the Ignition Tap. The green wire off the HAMSAR 45035 is tapped to the black wire coming off a plug connection that is located directly below the power steering reservoir and slightly towards the passenger side wheel. This is directly in front of and slightly below the FCIE (I think its called something like that - the big module unit in front of the main underhood fuse box)

The ignition tap above seems much easier to get at than the other instructions earlier in this thread but both are functionally the same.

The next pic is the high and low bean taps. These were done farther back on the wiring harness and not right at the bulb. Hence easier to get at but still need to unbolt the power steering reservoir and move it aside.

Last tap is the parking brake wire. This was taken directly off the only wire coming off the parking brake switch/sensor.

I am not real happy that the dealer didn't solder these connections but seem to be working fine for now.

PM me if there are any questions.

Altaboy--
I'm going to attempt to install the HAMSAR kit on my 07 odyssey (USA), I wouldn't mind having the wiring diagrams to keep me out of trouble. Can you email?

Send me email with 2007 odyssey wiring diagram in subject line to lrcu@yahoo.com & i will forward off to you. Note, file is 802kB in pdf format.

Good luck. I ended up just having Autotemp to mine for $225.

Hamsar DRL install successful on 07 EX!

Thanks to all the posts and pics on this forum, I just successfully installed the Hamsar 42035 DRL kit on my '07 Odyssey EX.

I used Bargainboy's pics of the dealer wiretaps for my install, although I soldered most of the connections rather than use the tap connectors.

I was a little nervous blindly tapping into wires without a schematic (primarily the ignition connection and the starter circuit connection) but everything seems to work fine.

Lessons learned--
1. The most difficult connection was the ignition circuit tap, which I took off the black-white wire on a connector as done in bargainboys dealer install--in retrospect I would have tried the green/silver tap under the fusebox that others have used. The connector is way down in there and impossible to get two hands on to solder or crimp. The only way it would be easier is if you were using the tap connectors.

2. I tapped the headlight circuits further back on the harness as shown in bargainboy's pics. In retrospect, it didn't seem any easier than doing it near the connector where others have done it.

3. Rather than attempt one-handed soldering of the connections up under the dash, I used butt-crimp connectors (NOT tap connectors). I figured these connections were out of the weather, and were sensor circuits not carrying any current.

4. I spent a LOT of time trying to figure a way to get wires through the firewall to make the parking brake/starter circuit connections. I could not find any grommets or existing penetrations to use. Finally I ended up drilling a hole through the metal in the hump that's down below the center console, near a heater control cable penetration. It was easy to get to under the car, and easy to find on the inside, with the plastic drivers-side kick-plate removed.

5. I also wired in a DRL "on-off" switch and installed it on my panel next to the VTS button, and used the parking brake sensor to activate it. Like others on this post, I wanted a way to "override" the DRL if I just didn't like it, or some problem developed. I used a $3.99 radio shack switch. I can provide pics or more details on the wiring if anyone is interested.

Thanks again to bargainboy and others who have posted their pictures and experiences!

I ordered the Fog Light Switch from Honda however I do not have the plug which comes with the fog light switch harness in order to make the connections.
I was wondering the same thing. Does any body know? Honda does not sell the connector or even the foglight accessory harness, which would have been great, since then I could have just connected to the wires.

I have the electrical service manual, but I need to know which pin is for wire 1 and 2. Is pin 1 at the top of the button?

now that my warranty is almost over, I plan on installing DRLs on my ody.

has anybody found an easier plug-n-play DRL kit? I'm not too comfortable with electrical stuff. How much do these kits go for and which one would you recommend?

Since the '08 Odys come standard with DRLs, does anybody know if there is a module from the '08's or Canadian Odys that can be put into US Odys w/out DRLs?

Hi lumberranger,

Do you mind posting some pics of steps 4 and 5. I just ordered mine and I'm planning to do this as well.

Thanks,

I've run a wire through the grommet holding the heater control cable. Just insert a small phillips screwdriver next to the cable as a feed and run whatever you wnat parallel to it. Then remove the screwdriver....

Hi to all!

I do have the same issue when I installed my 45035 from Hamsar. Anybody solved this issue?

Thanks,

Nice job guys! This is a great mod!

While this feature became standard on the 08-09 Odyssey... it wasn't a option on the 05-07 Odyssey.

I would really like to see the "mod work" now for adding side marker lights on the van too! :D

Congrats again!!

Ok, here's what I did to fix this, well not exactly a fix but a mod I did to the foglight. Here's the post on this FOG light mod.

I'd also want to share additional info in installing the drl. This thread is really hepful and I'd like to share some of my experience. Here's what I did:

Using a piece of wire hanger I inserted it in the grommet (tip from Chiody) to fish 3 long wires from the inside of the driver side which will serve as my connection for the ebrake(yellow), crank (blue) and source for the switched power using fuse#21 (green). Fuse#21 is an alternative for the wire in the underhood fuse box which is easier to access. Here's a pic of the grommet. I covered it with black tubing to insulate it from the engine.

Pic of the hole from the inside just above the gas pedal.

Fuse# 21 location. I used an Add-a-Circuit for this step.

I'm really happy how this turned out. I hope this helps those who will be installing the drl.
