Hi all

I live in the UK and have a 2001 LX van with 160k on the clock.

Transmission died whilst driving on the highway - no warning - no previous indication of it failing, just disengaged.

It now randomly engages in first or reverse and sometimes third - but only for a few minutes….

Anyone had similar issues?

I've owned my 2000 EX since 2000 and have had to put 2 rebuilt transmissions in due to the clutches wearing out.
Honda put a car transmission in these Gen II vans and it didn't cut the mustard.
Either bin the van or put a rebuilt transmission is your only 2 options.

Is your '01 the North American RL1 variant with V6 and sliding doors? Or the RA International Odyssey with conventional doors? Frequent drain and fill of the transmission fluid has been recommended for the 2nd Gen RL1. The '98 1st Gen was starting to show similar transmission issues, so drain and fill probably applies to your 2nd Gen as well, whether it has the 4 cylinder or V6.

This is the most important part. WHICH Odyssey does the OP have in the UK?
