2010 Odyssey cylinder 1 misfire

I have a 2010 Odyssey it's got 150k miles on it. It's been running rough almost acting like it's going to cut out. This was happening a few months ago and I replaced all the plugs and also the alternator. It seemed to fix things until now. It has also been leaking oil from the VVT solenoid and the timing cover. The power steering pump is also bad. The power steering only works when I'm hitting the gas. It seems like everything is happening at once. The thing that I need to fix first is the misfire. From the threads that I have looked at it seems like cylinder one is on the back passenger side of the engine. Should plugs go bad within a few months time ? Should I try and swap the coil packs and possibly replace the plugs again? Can anyone confirm the location of cylinder 1 on a 2010 Odyssey? Any help you folks could provide would be much appreciated.

I would swap coil packs first, and see if the misfire follows the coil pack. If it doesn't, then pull the plugs and if there is no obvious damage, swap those on two cylinders and see if the misfire follows the plug (I'd say that's unlikely if the plugs are new - that being said, if you used NGK plugs, there are a lot of counterfeits floating around on Amazon and eBay that are junk) - if it still stays on cylinder 1, the next thing to check is the injector - swap those between two cylinders and see if it follows the injector.

On our 05 we had several things cause misfires - one was a pin fitment issue - the tab inside the socket had bent up somehow and it wasn't making good contact (that fixed it, but I didn't find that until after doing the switcheroo with everything else - if you get to the injectors doing that, do yourself a favor and pick up new upper and lower o-rings for all 6 injectors and just swap them all out - it's less annoying if you buy them before the job instead of what I did getting the van all apart, then realizing I ought to do that and sending someone out to pick them up for me) - the second time it was a bad coilpack (replaced with one from NAPA and all was fine up until we got rid of the van) - the van had more than a couple miles on it when the coil pack went (263k)

I'm going through the same issue right now in cylinder 1. I had a code P0310 (misfire cylinder 1). Replaced the coil pack and it repaired. 6 months later, I get the same code (P0301). Switched coil packs in cylinders one and four just to perform a test, and it still misfired with code P0301. From there, I took out the spark plug in cylinder 1 and it had been running rich (plug was dark in color) and a very very small piece of the ceramic insulator tip was missing on top. Took out the remaining plugs in all cylinders and all looked the same and in good condition compared to cylinder 1. Bought all new NGK plugs at my local auto store and replaced all plugs. 8 months, I get the same code. Since than, I've been monitoring the condition of cylinder 1 plug every month and it looks like it's been running super rich, where the other plugs looks normal. Also, my 2010 Ody van burns oil, but not at much as others from what i've read (1 quart per every 1000 miles). Mine is not as excessive, but I still have to keep the oil levels with-in the operating range every 4-6 weeks. I've been thinking of purchasing the VCM Muzzler 2 just to deactivate the VCM, but i'm just gonna trade in the van for another car. I bought this van for my family and kids. Now that the kids are grown up with one going to college, we are looking for a smaller vehicle or a SUV.

My van is a 2010 Ody EX-L with 131,000 miles on it. This is my second van as my previous was a 2001 Ody EX-L which got hit by a red light runner travelling at over 50+mph. This happened back in 2010. Myself and my 2 year old daughter came out it safe and ok. The driver hit us on the passenger side front quarter panel and shifted my whole front end 5 inches to the left. It was a total loss and my insurance company gave us full value of the 2001 Ody at $19,000 since it was in excellent running and looking condition.

Anyways, let me know what you come up with as i've been taking research on this particular VCM issue for the past few months. It seems the issue with the 3.5 liter 6 cylinder engines for our older Ody's is the VCM ( Variable Cylinder Management System ).

On another note: I had a code P0306 (cylinder 6) last month on our way to Disneyland with my family. Got 120 miles out and CEL came on blinking. Pulled over to the next stop, checked the code with my OBD2 scanner. I was lucky that a buddy of mine lived near by and bought the parts for me and delivered to where we were at. Changed out the coil pack and plug hoping that would fix the issue to no avail :(. Pulled over, switched the coil pack out from another cylinder and it did the same thing. Cleared the CEL code and drove back home going 60-65mph without setting off the CEL. The next day I drove over 70mph to see if I can set off the CEL and it did. Drove to see my mechanic, told him everything, and he said it could be the fuel injector. Changed it out for a new one and that's been resolved for now.
