Question to add to this thread. I have a 2011 EXL w the 5 speed, 165K miles. I am doing the 1x drain and fill for the first time. (My first time doing it myself, trans has been serviced regularly.). I had it serviced back in January and now starting the every other oil change regimen. Van was fairly warm when I drained the fluid and I got about 4.7 quarts out of the single drain. The manual says it should be 3.3 quarts. Was it overfilled? Should I just put back 3.3 qts and check it as per above? Or put back what I took out. Van was shifting and running fine before draining. The extra DW1 is throwing me for a loop.

I’ve drained 4.2 but only when tilting it. 4.7 does seem like it was overfilled (shop with oil gun not caring about precision). If I were you I’d put in 3.5 or 4 and then check the dipstick.

Yes, the front was up on jackstands. I forgot to mention that!! Good call. Would that change your answer?

Doesn't matter - the dipstick has the final word. Fill it until thr dipstick says it's right.

Knowing how much came out or how much "should" go in is only useful as a general guideline. It doesn't mean squat if the dipstick doesn't agree.

Well, I ended up putting in just shy of 4 qts. Took out 4.7 and put back about 3.9. I used the dipstick and checked it after the first 60-90 seconds after the first fan cycled and used a white paper towel to see where the line was. It is very hard to see for sure. It hit the bottom hole and was just above. I plan on doing another D&F in a few weeks.

So in theory, if the van isn’t experiencing symptoms, the fluid level is “probably” ok?

final fill would make sure its up at the second line when hot.
put in what you take out.

measurement method, is bang on every time.

Yep, plan on doing two more with lubeguard on the last one. How much fluid do you think is the difference b/w the bottom line to the top?
