The 2011 Siennas are not even in dealerships yet, and Toyota hasn't released pricing but dealers are already offering discounts?
...and also the Sienna is not included in the gas pedal recall

And now they have an ABS issue on the Prius. Run of bad luck for Toyota recently!

Fitzmall in PA/MD/FL is a dealer that offers just one price, take it or leave it, and posts it on the web. They carry many other brands, but not Honda nor Ford.

On my way to work this morning I saw a semi with a car carrier on the back. It had about 10 of the new seinnas on the trailer. He was parked in a local Bob Evens. I wanted to stop and see up close but I had to get to work. But from the street, they even looked ugly.

Never again. I was the first in my family to buy a Japanese car back in the early 90's, a used CRX HF. News traveled fast on how good this car was. After telling cousins about the positive ownership experience, pretty much everybody in my family on both coasts, and in between, have dumped their American cars.

FoMoCo might have my business in the future, but never, ever again with GM or Chrysler.

Back on track....

...still haven't seen one of these new Siennas.

Sienna limited fully loaded with

EVERYTHING costs $47k around my

area.... :O

The Sienna's styling is just too "boy racer" fussy for my taste. It would seem that all the Pontiac designers moved to Toyota. I will immediately buy next decent performing van that comes to market. But not another Honda. My 05 has been a major disappointment. Lousy build and materials quality and nothing but trouble right fro the start. As an avid domestic car buyer until the Odyssey, I am puzzled by the quality claims for foreign makes if mine is any kind of example. The local dealer has been great, but too many significant faults begs question of the claimed quality. The only reason I bought the 05 Odyssey was that there was and still is absolutely no decent domestic mini van on the market. I chose the Odyssey over the Sienna for its road performance and eight passenger option on the EX-L. I will drive the 11 Sienna and dump the Odyssey if it looks better in person and performs as well as the Honda. Is there a Siennaclub.com?

I think you make a valid point about the declining quality of the so-called imports. They are making continuous design changes in order to reduce costs in response to competition from excellent competitors, especially Hyundai and Kia, that offer good cars at lower prices. Case in point: the power steering pump in later model Ody's. However, cars are much more complex than ever before. Your benchmark should not be perfection, but rather how well the others are doing with quality.

As for the 2011 Sienna, according to the comparison with the 2010 Ody posed above by mdurbs68, the Sienna is quicker but handles less well. That comparison pits a fresh re-design against a 5-year-old design. I wonder what Honda has in store for the next Ody...

I would tend to agree that the comparison in the article is an unfair comparison. They should have waited for the 2011 Oddy to come out to do this.

i think they just wanted to see how the 5-year old odyssey stacked up against the new Sienna, Kinda like how they compared the BMW 5-series to the new and updated car yet it still got first place.
They will probably do a full comparison with the other minivans when the 4th Gen ody is out.

Sold the 07 Odyssey for $21k with 20k miles on it.

About to pick up the 2011 Sienna next couple days (or weeks) pending the color.

Color- Pre dawn grey or silver sky
Options- premium pkg + floor mat
MSRP- $39485
Invoice- $35321
Paid- $37,000

Yes i did over pay. But the best deal in can find in bay area.

Based on the limited test drive.

Interior-
1. I like the fake wood better than the 08 limited i have.
2. Leather is softer to the touch than both 07 Odyssey and 08 Sienna.
3. 180 panorama view and parking aid. Like the new feature.
4. dash material is a disgrace. Actually made odyssey looks quiet good. No where close to the 08 sienna limited.
5. I love the new perforated leather steering wheel. Thick in the right area.
6. Smart key is nice- no need to get the keys out of pocket.
7. Roof liner material is a step better than odyssey, and also better than the 08 sienna.

Exterior-
1. I like the front end a lot.
2. The rear needs a lot of help. It just looks dorky. I don't like the shape of the rear lift gate. Something both 07 odyssey and previous sienna does a lot better.

Can't comment on the performance as the test drive is limited. But the brake is so much firmer and stops great. Huge improvement over the 08 Sienna. As good as the Odyssey.

Steering- this is an XLE. So its a little numb. But huge improvement over the 08. While not as good as the odyssey, not bad for a soft version of sienna. I can't wait to get my hands on the SE.

Reason we went for the XLE rather than limited or SE are as follows.

1. SE does not have optional navigation system nor DVD.
2. Limited does not come with 8 passenger seat (which is the only thing that i liked on the odyssey)

XLE FWD 8 passenger fully loaded is the only thing that come close to what i need.

Mod Plan-

1. Retrofit the factory limited HID with height adjustment.

2. full SE suspension swap

3. SE tail light swap

Couldn't agree more expect I am not a Ford fan but....

I checked out the 2011 Sienna at an auto show. I really liked the foot stool that popped out of the second row seats to make them like a recliner...nice luxury feature that the ody does not have...

My understanding is that it's a great feature for those under about 5' 9".
