Check battery condition. I know it's new but your symptoms are exactly what you'll experience with bad battery

I have a 2014 that does the same thing. It appears to be by design.

Try tapping the lock button twice. Then the lights flash and you hear the beep.

 

Not the battery....
I have appt at dealership tomorrow. They say it sounds complicated.

Frustrating.

Is your hood firmly shut? Open your hood and slam it shut good. Then try locking again. Check all doors and the rear hatch as well.

 

I had the same problem, after opening the hood and slamming it shut, that cirrected the problem,,,,,,,,,,,,Thank you 😁

 

Okay so!!!! Here's how the day went.
Way too much info, I know but everyone really helped me!

1st went by local dealership. They made appt for me for tomorrow.
2nd (per previous poster) I went by a auto store and asked them to check battery. Battery tested great
3rd later in the evening while outside, I noticed my hood wasn't shut all the way. My husband shut it back. I hit the lock button to go inside..... It beeped and lights flashed!!

Then I just logged on and saw the last suggestion. You were spot on!! How did you know that??!! Smarty!!

About three days ago we refilled the washer fluids. Guess the hood didn't get shut.

Problem solved and time at dealership saved tomorrow! Thanks y'all!

 

I knew the problem immediately because I've had several Hondas and Acuras and been there done that on the no beep and no flashing lights before.

But you figured it out anyways! The thing I don't understand though is if you had the battery checked, did they also not close the hood well afterward?

 

The auto store guy left me to close the hood. Guy I didn't get it shut... Twice! Ha.
Once after adding the washer fluid and again after the battery check.
Lesson learned tho!

This is my third honda odyssey and my 6th honda vehicle. Never happened to me before.

 

My van wasn't beeping as I locked the door. I couldn't find anything about it in the manual. I read this post, tried opening and shutting the hood firmly and now the beeps are back. This started happening last week when I got my first oil change.

 

When I lock my Ody, I usually get two beeps, but sometimes just one. I've never been able to figure out a pattern, but I assume there is a reason? It's not really a problem, so I've never bothered asking...but this thread has got me thinking. Is there a Honda-whisperer out there who can tell me what my van is trying to say?

I have a 2016 Special Edition that I just bought. I noticed the I don't get the horn beep when I lock the doors with my Key Fob (I would expect this to happen after I've pressed the button twice, like it did in my Toyota Prius). Is this normal, or is something a miss. I asked the car salesman the day after when I returned to the dealer to finish some paperwork, and he told me that the lower models were like this by design. I'm inclined to not believe what he is telling me.

Any help is appreciated.

 

It should beep when pressed twice. Did you check the hood? (fully closed?)

Since it is new, you can always take it to any Honda dealer for repair.

 

I have a 2016 SE model and ours beeps, but not from the horn like our 2004 did. This beep seems to come from the rear of the van and is not very loud. Maybe try standing at the rear hatch and locking the van with the button on the hatch and see if your hear anything??

 

@HawkeyScott: Hey I bought a used 2016 odyssey, SE. you mentioned yours beep with remote, but does it beep only when you press lock 2x? or single lock AND unlock. I'm having an issue where it beeps when i press lock 2x along with the blinks, but it does not beep when i unlock it.

 

Check your hood. May not be closed all the way.

 

Yes, the hood was the problem, thank you. It beeped after slam closing the hood.

 

The 15 doesn't activate the horn for 'beeps' like many cars - it only gives a high-pitched 'peep' after hitting the 'lock' twice.

 

I have a 2002 odyssey and just had that problem pop up. I want to say thank you for the info because it solved me beeping problem. God bless you all.

 

It happened to 2015 odyssey after oil change. Nothing worked including shutting the hood etc. On close examination there is electrical connection just below the locking lever of hood. This connection got loose and putting it together bought back the sound of locking.
