That's amazing! You deserve every penny you saved after doing that kind of leg work. You certainly get what you work for. I have to admit I did not work that hard, I let the scarcity intimidate me some. There are only 5 Honda dealerships within 50 miles of me too, and one of them is very slimy and I was unwilling to even deal with them after I talked to a sales person on the phone. If I'd worked as hard as you and been as patient, I probably could have scored a better discount. Congrats!
Thank you and I appreciate your sentiments.

It is not an easy task to deal with the dealerships. Back in Aug 2018, I was hunting for my G5 and landed on a 2019 Elite and paid $46,500 OTD - reached out to similar number of dealerships, but got a really good deal through Costco and it saved me about 2.5K off the top right away. Touring prices now, are what Elite prices were back then.

I joined Ody Club for the primary reason of gaining knowledge on the vehicle (as it was my first Odyssey back then) and to see any issues folks have faced. When I took delivery, I ensured that all the TSBs, AC pressure, etc etc were proper, and signed off, before I drove off. I also paid that in cash and the manager hated me as the discount was too steep ($1800+ options were given to me as I refused). I had zero troubles with my Elite for 115K miles and 5 years it was with me.

Similar to buying a house, one has to be patient buying a vehicle, and also the location you live in plays a huge part. If I draw a 50-mile circle, I have numerous Honda dealerships to choose from and thus the ability to see aggressive pricing. I was proposed a deal of $53.5K OTD for a white Elite with a tan interior and I refused as it was the wrong color, inside and out. $4K+ price difference did not yield any benefit for me and shamelessly I ask them to unload the Elite, to me, for $49.5K as I could not justify value in the added $4K+.

My advice is, you have an Elite and you will enjoy it for years to come. The G5 Elite is by far the best vehicle I have owned and sadly it was short lived for me and it was not at my discretion. In life, we make decisions as the information and time affords us - I wish you many years and miles of enjoyment out of your Elite.

For those of you getting a discount off MSRP - do they have stock on the lot that's giving you negotiating power? Or are you ordering them in still but just really good at haggling? Here in Utah the van's are still order-in only nothing on the lot, and the four dealers I talked to didn't seem like they'd budge on the MSRP, they're like "you're lucky we're not doing a market adjustment up with the demand we're seeing around here".
typically you will have more negotiating power if the vehicle is on the lot and if it's end of the month.
also you will have more haggle room on higher trims vs lower trims.
I got lucky because this dealer honored the deal they gave me for their very last 23 Elite which was sold before I made up my mind back in July.
A month later (early Sept) a new salesman contacted me asking if I was still in the market and I said yes. They carried over the same deal for the 24 model and upped the trade-in value by $1500 and told me they will honor the appraisal at the time of purchase which was last week.

The best part is they delivered the car from VT to NJ (8hr round trip) free of charge and picked up my trade in.

I would suggest looking out of state as well. I know the states out in the west are huge and far apart but you need to expand your search as much as possible.

I contacted almost 100 dealerships in 14 different states for 3 months (started my search in FL because they usually have better deals down there).

I've read a few people on online communities getting good deals in AZ so I would search there as well.

Not sure which trim you are interested in but I would look for $1500-2500 off on lower trims and $3000+ on Elite trim.

Good luck!

Discount: $3500 (they honored the deal they gave me back in July for their very last 2023 Elite)
Dealer add-on: NONE
Trade-in: $37,500 ($1500 more than Carvana/Carmax)
Doc fee: $699

Location: Vermont

Bonus: dealer delivered the car free of charge from VT to NJ and picked up my trade-in, saving me 8 hours of driving and 2-3 hours at the dealership.

Wow! some of you got great deals. For my 2024 Elite, I had to pay full msrp, as they would not budge, and they were going to start adding "market value" pricing again, but I put a down payment on the Elite while it was still in shipping mode, as they had none on the lot. Plus $3500 for 8 years, 60K honda extended warranty with zero deductible. But I got a decent trade in value on my Nissan Pathfinder and 48 months at 3.9% financing. So far, I'm loving the Elite.

I traded in my 2022 Pathfinder Platinum. What year was yours? and yes, I love the Odyssey WAY more. But I do miss the better camera quality, 360 cam, and front cam.

2023 Pathfinder SL with premium package. Too many issues with the new '22 and '23 models. I put over 100K miles on an ODY 2014-2017 and enjoyed it a lot. I was commuting 70+miles per day and I don't keep vehicles once they go over 100K.

That is a great deal to get a discount of $4227 - what constituted such a discount?

Great question. Not sure to be honest. I asked several dealers that I wanted to get as close to 53k as possible, they all said it was impossible considering the market. My OTD price from several dealers was as high as $60k, with upper $50s the norm. Thing is, when I purchased my 2019 odyssey, there were only about 6 in my area, which was the case again now . When I mentioned this, I started to get better pricing.

@Nv116 , that is pretty interesting negotiation. $58K to $60K is about the OTD for an Elite now. I believe the nationwide starting invoice for an Elite is around $45,545.00, while the starting MSRP is at $49.970. Not sure what your purchase breakdown is and thus I am going to assume here - looks like you may have gotten a price of $46K for the base price before Destination, DOC Fee, DMV, Luxury Tax (if TX has one for vehicles over $45K), Options and finally the state tax, arriving at an OTD of $53K. White is a premium color with an upcharge, so all that said - you got a really great deal, if not the absolute best deal for a brand new '24 Elite.
Here in NJ, many of these vans (the EXLs are the volume sellers as always) are often spoken for, while in transit. Lot of the vehicles listed as In-stock, were actually in transit and also allocated.

What was your ODO when you took delivery of the van?

I am rather new here, what is ODO? Odometer? My odyssey had about 15 miles

Where are you located? I got similar response when I tried to negotiate. But like other posts have shown, I work at is as diligently as some people did! Gotta hand it to them! Inventory very low within 200 miles of Salt Lake City Utah where I am, almost never any on the lot. At least at the beginning of October when I bought.

I love the van, but mostly it's sat in the garage since we got it - sick kids, tons of work, and we haven't moved the kid's car seats out of our sedan yet because around town it's fine for two kids. So still under 100 miles on it even after driving it 50 miles home from the dealership three weeks ago (had 70 miles when we got it in the garage). We've taken it out on a couple errands and my dad wanted to drive it around a little (he's a big car buff). We didn't do a trade-in, so we just keep using our sedans, we got it more for extended family outings and trips, none of which have happened yet.

In the next week or two, we plan to move the kids car seats over and my wife will start using it around town...

Yup, MSRP too but they gave me $6,000 for a 10 yr old, 280,000 mile Odyssey. I laughed all the way home!

Here is a summary of my Odyssey purchase:

Model/Trim: 2024 Odyssey Touring
Color: Sonic Grey Pearl
Original MSRP w/destination: $46,930 (Includes +455 for premium color)
Paid price: $44,930 ($2000 discount off the MSRP)
Dealer add-ons: None
Trade-in: None - They offered $5K for my 2011 Ody EX-L with RES and 120K Miles. I refused that offer since I think I can do better in a private sale. It is in great shape Plus I have done the timing belt/water-pump replacement.
Registration and Fees (incl new plate): $593
OTD: $48,219 [6% Sales Tax in central PA]

I did not do a lot of research prior to our purchase. We went to the dealership to test drive the Ody. They had two 2024 Odys on the lot (an Elite inside the showroom and 1 Touring on the lot). Our target budget was an EX-L but we wanted the Sonic Grey Pearl color and that is only available in Sport or above trims. This is our 3rd Ody purchased from this dealership. I thought that there was a $500 loyalty rebate but the salesman said it was only applicable for Leases. Overall, I thought we did well considering the demand for new vehicles in today's market.
