Here is a summary of my Odyssey purchase:

Model/Trim: 2024 Odyssey Touring
Color: Sonic Grey Pearl
Original MSRP w/destination: $46,930 (Includes +455 for premium color)
Paid price: $44,930 ($2000 discount off the MSRP)
Dealer add-ons: None
Trade-in: None - They offered $5K for my 2011 Ody EX-L with RES and 120K Miles. I refused that offer since I think I can do better in a private sale. It is in great shape Plus I have done the timing belt/water-pump replacement.
Registration and Fees (incl new plate): $593
OTD: $48,219 [6% Sales Tax in central PA]

I did not do a lot of research prior to our purchase. We went to the dealership to test drive the Ody. They had two 2024 Odys on the lot (an Elite inside the showroom and 1 Touring on the lot). Our target budget was an EX-L but we wanted the Sonic Grey Pearl color and that is only available in Sport or above trims. This is our 3rd Ody purchased from this dealership. I thought that there was a $500 loyalty rebate but the salesman said it was only applicable for Leases. Overall, I thought we did well considering the demand for new vehicles in today's market.
do you mind sharing what dealer you went to?

How much was the doc fees?
You paid about $1000 OTD less than what I paid and the PA-DMV fees are about $160 more than NJ. My Doc fees were $799. Though NJ has 6.625%, the difference in 0.625% does not yield a $1K difference.

I did the calculation and he didn't include the doc fee. I would assume it's around $500.
Their "registration and fees" of $592 includes the doc fee. The breakdown is as follows:
Doc fee = $449
County Fee = $5
Online Dlr/Reg Fee = $21.70
Registration Fee = $45
Tire Tax = $5
Title Fee = $67

Note: Any applicable fees related to financing would be separate and is NOT included in the above.

# 1 Cochran Honda Johnstown
Ask for Rich Berkey. He is the most honest, no pressure salesman I have met. They normally offer a very small discount below MSRP (pre or post covid). He said that since the vehicle was on their lot without a buyer he was able to offer me a bigger discount. Maybe, I was just lucky.

Here's the list of State allowed DOC fees by state......

I think it also depends on the dealer. the website says $180 for VT but I paid $699 doc fee.
It's ok since I got a great deal.

holy crap. sounds like you got ripped off by your employer. even I can get a sport for $41k (before tax and fees)
Oh I saw the numbers. $600 was how much the dealer made. When I saw the manager screen, there were a LOT of reds with - signs in front of them. Lol. Odyssey doesn't have $8k of mark up. If you're getting a NEW 2024 Odyssey Sport for $41k, there's a problem. I need to know so I can go buy some and resell them to other dealers. Lol!

But then again it has a "protection package" on it that's $3900 but got cost down for me. All items I'm glad I have. All season mats, LoJack, mud flaps, window tint, door protection.

I just bought an Elite for $48,300 ($3500 off msrp) and that same dealer offered me $40,735 for a Sport (for my friend) and found another dealer who was doing a special deal this month for $500 over invoice and they sent over a quote of $40,490. Both deals should be under $45k after taxes and fees.

Where yall find these deals at? Lol! What state?

VT and PA
That's the reason why. Lol! Plus no other dealership going to put the effort into getting my deal approved like my managers did. Come down south. You're not getting those kind of deals. Idk what it is up there but NY, PA, NJ, and all those places in New England can do that. But they might be numbers dealerships. Sell 300 new cars at a loss and it gets made up for later with bonus from Honda.

the dealer where I bought mine from is a tiny dealership. I've seen people get even better deals in AZ and TX. like $4-5k off msrp on Elites.

Wow, during covid the PHX metro dealers seemed to all want $5000 in add ons. I called one with a white Elite on the last day of the month and said I'd bring a check in today for MSRP, no addons.... nope, he passed.
Drove back to my MN dealer who stepped up $3,500 over what my trade in was valued at for a MSRP deal.

No dealership sells vehicles at a loss and at the least, they make at least $2K on sales. Many of the vans are 'sold' while in transit and closed when they arrive. There is not much stock in the lot to play with and those that have some stock, will negotiate. New car sales for dealerships is to keep the franchise/name as the bread and butter of dealerships is Service and Used vehicles.

$48K for an Elite is something I would drive 4hrs for - honestly as thats how far Cochran is from me. Elites go for close to $60K OTD. I can justify a boring 8-hr drive for $12K lol

my dealer delivered the car for free from VT to NJ so worked out great for me although I would have loved to visit VT for the foliage. When I checked their website later on I saw that they offer free delivery within 250 miles.

what was the dealership you purchased from again? The furthest I got vehicles delivered were from NYC and Phillipsburg. Rest has been local.
