Dealerships usually frown upon cash buyers so I did not expect it to be offered up by dealerships themselves.

The one I dropped by yesterday in my area was low pressure and repeatedly said they were willing to work on the price with either finance or cash. Their 4.49% APR 24-48mo was good but not good enough for me. But, I would take the cash option if that meant 5k difference as stated by previous posters.

The test drive on a Touring was fine (same Honda Odyssey quality but nothing really wow me). I want it black with beige interior but it was not an option. The screen layout is small and outdated, and wife was unimpressed. Without 360 camera, pulling in a tight parking was a chore. But, nothing that $$$ could not fix. We left after telling them that we would make our decision after test drive a Sienna.

 

It was strange but they didn't offer any discount for financing. Often they do.

love paying the dealer for a doc fee when its the country/state that does it. 90% is to pad the dealers pockets...as if they weren't making better than 20% profit to start with.
you also got jipped on your trade in, unless it had some obvious or unsightly issues.
they will sell it for more than twice, if it didn't. you should've held the line at $10k trade, coz they'll have it selling within 24-72hrs, & sold likely in a month.

 

You guys paying 4k for extended warranties are out of your minds. Finance manager took the whole team out for drinks on your dime that night.

I would agree with srobak. The warranty and financing (% rate) are where the finance guy/gal make their living on. Always say "NO" until they ask you to name a price 😁.

That’s not too much of a difference. I used the quote from Sam’s Club and they had no problem honoring it.

 

what was the quote from Sam's if you don't mind me asking? I used Costco to start the process at one dealership so I knew where I could start, but most dealers were willing to go at least 1,000-1500 under the Costco price. I know each Costco dealer, can set their own price, so it doesn't mean a whole lot. Thanks again!!

I would focus on percentage off msrp as opposed to the raw dollar figure. Some come with options and certain colors add to the msrp also. 10-12% off msrp with reasonable doc fees (say $500 or less) seems pretty good to me based on what I found. Location is also key but if you’re willing to travel a bit and make a lot of inquiries you can likely save some.
