This is my first post; I apologize if this has been asked and answered.
We purchased a 2019 EX-L about 6 weeks ago and on the way home from the dealership (after sunset) we noticed the headlights dimming with the a/c compressor cycling (not that unusual). We didn't think much of it, but with the days getting shorter we noticed that the a/c is cycling every 5-10 seconds, and causing the headlights (and interior lights) to dim during every cycle. This is just something we have started paying attention to and it is driving us crazy. Is it normal for the a/c to cycle so frequently and noticeably dim the headlights?
We have also noticed that when the a/c runs, the fans are extremely loud. Not talking about the cabin blower fan, but the fans in the engine bay. This isn't noticeable when inside the cabin, but the odyssey is definitely the loudest of our three vehicles by far when standing outside the car with the a/c on (1999 GMC Sierra Classic and 2011 Hyundai Elantra Touring). We are really happy with our purchase so far, but find the quick cycling very distracting at night and I am concerned that we are damaging the compressor by cycling too frequently. If we switch the setting to defrost or 'lo' the compressor/fans stay on (albeit very loud). I have been trying to use 'lo' or turn of the a/c whenever possible.
We have dropped off the van at the dealer we purchased it from, but they are having trouble duplicating the issue. Is this cycling of the fan/compressor normal? Its been as quickly as every 2-3 seconds as well. I might drive out to the dealer to talk in person, (but its about an hour from my job, and unfortunately is the closest Honda dealer). Not sure how hard I should push the issue. Thanks in advance for any input!
