Hey there,

I saw the other thread for a similar issue but didn't want to hi-jack it for mine (I can delete this one and post there if needed).

I started having this issue about a week ago after a carwash and wanted to try and pinpoint the issue before going to the dealership. It started with my 2021 Odyssey saying there was a problem and that I couldn't use ACC or Collision Mitigation. A couple days later the warning message changed to say, "Adaptive Cruise Control Problem", Collision Mitigation System Problem", "Road Departure Mitigation System Problem", along with the BRAKE SYSTEM light turning on (It wasn't on with the other messages before).

So far I've only changed out the battery, but I had the old battery tested at Advanced Auto Parts and was told that it was still good and was told that they don't see any error messages on their side.

From what I've read the 2 components that are possible issues is the camera above the rear-view mirror or the radar behind the front emblem.

I've noticed that my LKAS still works (that's the button with the 2 road line markers right?) and that it will keep me centered in my lane. That's leading me to believe that the camera above the rear-view mirror is still good.

Does anyone else have any ideas on how I can test and possibly fix this without a trip to the dealership? I'm assuming this isn't something that normal repair shops will look at (my friend works in one and says they sub-contract these issues out to dealerships since they don't have the tools to recalibrate the sensors).

I had the same problems you have. After these alarms showed up, while driving home I did not notice any problems with the ODY. After shutting the ODY off at home until the next morning, everything cleared up. I have had it happen a few more times, (after car wash, touch-less very high pressure) it gave the same alarms and let it sit overnight and they cleared again. Next time I was at the Honda Dealer for a Recall I brought it up. CANNED STATEMENT for Honda Dealer representative " If we cannot see the fault or read it in history, there is nothing we can do for it. " I have not had it happen since then, but I still use the same car wash. That's been 3-4 years ago.

Just a follow-up to this post. I ended up taking the van to the dealership and was told that I needed to have the radar sensor re-aimed. I'm picking it up in a few hours, so fingers crossed that's all it is. Re-aiming cost $500

Here's the wording on their diagnosis in case it helps anyone else out in the future.

[Primary]: MISC : OTHER DIAGNOSIS 1: C/S: C/S LIGHTS ON DASH. CHECK AND ADVISE.
Electrical: Scanned codes and have code P2583-76 for Radar Misalignment. Recommend performing Radar Aiming procedures

Normally (on my ODY) it never gave a code. Was you beyond your 36k mile warranty? Or did you have HondaCare. Re-aiming the radar unit behind the Honda front grille repaired it's problem. I guess I cannot understand how it would go out of alignment unless there was a front end accident unless it was from the factory on the edge of being out of tolerance and they locked it down. Sorry it happened at that price!

Yeah I’m sitting at 58k miles after a few road trips per year, so I’m well out of their basic warranty. I asked the service advisor what could have caused it and he said it normally happens when there’s things that could move the sensor enough to throw it out of alignment.

At least in my case, the only tough wear I’ve put on the car in the past month was making a night drive through Louisiana interstate and taking the car through a wash a couple times to get rid of the caked on mosquitos.

I go through touch free-high pressure car washes here (one location only), at one of the places during the car wash 'RIDE' it has rotating arms with 6 jet nozzles on it. It actually rocks the ODY in quite a few dimensions. That may be what my problem could be as well, but beings how it has not happened for the last 3 years, I have almost forgot about it. Even though the milliwatt-radar-sensor sits behind the covered upper part of the grill, nothing much should get to it. I really doubt that a cat or something similar to their size could make it to that location, except mice. Makes you wonder how far was the alignment out...

Had the Same issue took it to the dealership to a friend of mine who is the service manager and he said this can be two issues the cars radar sensor behind the Honda emblem is either bad or needs to be recalibrated; or the multipurpose camera that controls the cruise control and crash mitigation system is no longer working.
Recalibration of radar would be around $500-$700 the multiple purpose camera is around $1,100 for the part and 3-$400 for installation. My issue was that the multi purpose camera went out and it cost me $1400 to fix! The good thing is that despite this issue the car is mechanically fine to drive and only disabled cruise control lane management etc. so it’s not an issue that is urgent concern.
