Where is cheapest place to get air filters for a 07 exl. The dealer wanted $120 to change these in the A12 maintenance. Has anyone used after market filters?

Did you try the Search?

I have had both the cabin and engine air filter changed twice now.. the cost was $80 ...

The engine air filter can be found for less than $20 online, and the cabin filter(s?) can be had for around $30 each.

so figure it's $50 in parts, and shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to replace both. A hours labor is ridiculous.

$80 seems reasonable if you're not the mechanically inclined type.

Walmart sells the Fram air filter for ~8. 4 bolts and done......Who in their right mind would spend $120 on changing the air filter?????
someone who doesn't know better.

though i personally stick to OEM or high end filters, but to each their own.

Don't forget your local NAPA store, either!

A buddy of mine works there and he gets me a nice discount.
I do the filters on the Ody, Civic, and my Mom's '03 Civic every Fall.

I don't care who you are; man, woman, or child, there's no excuse for paying a dealer to install these items.

I don't mean to thread-jack, but I just feel bad when I know people are being taken at the dealer for simple stuff like this. For example, I was just at the dealer yesterday for a brake fluid change (hopefully one day I'll muster up the courage to do it myself) and kept cringing every time someone agreed to unnecessary and overpriced work.

"Mrs. Jones, your vehicle is also due for a tire rotation, would you like for us to take care of that for you?" Customer agreed.

"Mr. Smith, we're almost done with your CR-V, however the technician noticed some vibration in the brakes. Would you like us to go ahead and resurface the rotors?" Customer agreed.

There was also some guy there having a conversation with the service advisor about his Civic Hyrbrid's battery. Probably being offered to put in brand new ones, who knows...

God only knows how many people agree to the unnecessary xx,000 mile recommended maintenance packages.

Ok, rant over.

I went to the dealer yesterday to look at a cabin filter and engine filter for my cr-v just out of curiousity, and they wanted $63 for the cabin, and $43 for the engine... as parts, not installed.

So over $100 for the parts! I told the guy I could get two of each for that.

Seriously, it makes me wonder how the parts department makes any money.

Wow... that is just unacceptable. Where is that? Waldorf? Mental note to never set foot in that dealer.
