I'm following up with a solution that will work for some...another forum member reached out to me, and an observation about his own situation led me to take a second look at mine, and I found the problem and solution.

On the lower track mechanism of the door, there is one part that is put under tension by a small expansion spring. This metal piece slots into a bar at the back of the lower door track, helping lock the door in place when it's full open. I was getting the three-beeps sensor notification because the metal piece was turned incorrectly when it got to this point, due to a broken end on the spring so it was no longer attached properly.

I've attached images showing the passenger side (broken) and driver's side (correct). I was able to bend one of the loops of the broken side of the spring into a new loop with a couple needle nose pliers. I attached the inner end, then using long/thin needle nose pliers, pulled the spring through the channel and attached it to the other hook. I'm sure a replacement is available at a hardware store, or part of the 200+ piece kit Harbor Freight has for $5, but this solution was free and likely to work great for years.

One other cheap/easy fix item that I found here/YouTube was to check the upper track bump-stop. Sure enough, my driver-side stop was missing, just like the YouTube video showed, while the passenger side one was still in place. However, in my case the door never hits that bump stop anyway, so it wasn't causing a problem in allowing the door to move an extra 3/8" or so that would trigger a door problem like the YouTube video showed.

Hopefully for someone else, one of these two cheap/easy fixes will be your problem, and you won't go through the whole process of putting in a new actuator ($$ and lots of time).

 

@JamesInLV - Thanks for sharing these pictures. My van has the same problem. After rehabbing the spring, how did you get it back in place? It is really tight in that track and hard to maneuver. Any tips?
