First, the wife is NOT HAPPY that the auto-stop can't be turned off once and forever. Seriously when it is in the 110 plus range every day now for months and the lows rarely drop below the mid 80s having the AC turn off at every pause is not so good.
She is also less than happy that the only work-around to keep it disabled that I have found is to set the rear fan to high and put up with the noise.
I'm not so amused by the lack of thought that went into designing the system. Why in the world did they design it so that when I pull up to a spot to park and take more than a second to push the Park button it turns the engine off. I guess I could learn to live with that but why does the idiot thing then restart the engine when I then push the Park button?
I'm hoping that Honda makes the disable setting sticky across restarts in the next software revision.
In the meanwhile, any other ideas on keeping it disabled without having to push the button at every start?
Maybe you can summon this company to make a device for the Odyssey.
SmartStopStart
They currently make their device for the Pacifica and it causes the system to remember if the stop/start was enabled or disabled when you restart your car in the future (they basically do what the manufacturer should have done).
I run
SmartStopStart. One of the members here contacted me to make me aware of this thread.
The Odyssey has actually been on my shortlist for a
SmartStopStart module.
In order to develop one, I need the help of a member. I would need access to a volunteer's vehicle for a couple of hours or so to take some data and program my module. I would not harm or modify the vehicle in any way. I need a volunteer within an hour or so of the Washington DC metro area. I would be happy to come to you or you can come to me if you prefer.
In exchange, you will get a free module, plus $50/hr if the time runs over 2 hours.
Anyone interested?
