Brake Wear Indicator

Just replaced my front pads and rotors with Hawk HPS pads and Brembo blanks.

This is my third set at 87,000 miles. Anyway, when I put my last pads on, I noticed that they didn't have a wear indicator. I thought this was the manufacturer (Raybestos). I'm guessing I should have reused the old sensor. The Hawk pads do not come with a sensor either.

I would like to prevent my wife driving the pads into the new Brembos. Does anyone have a part number or know where I can get just the wear indicators?

Yes, but we all use OEM pads unless we are paying more for better pads. Using cheap generic pads is not recommended. In this case mrstop was using better than OEM (at least he thinks so) OEM pads are like $43. with all the hardware if you know where to buy them. For the 02-04 vans, there is a hardware upgrade included with the rears.

Bad policy to use all encompassing terms like "all" of us....

I've used Wagner Ceramic Professional's which provide better performance than OEM pads but cost LESS than your $43 price point. And I only paid for them ONCE. Just installed my second set for free...Net cost so far ~$20 per set. Will only get cheaper in the future. I just love these "lifetime warranties."

I just have two questions. One for mrstop and the other for chiody.

mrstop, if you are still around, how are the Brembo blanks holding up now that you have over a year on 'em? Do you still like them?

chiody, the pads you mention. How dusty/noisy are they?I will soon be in the market for the Maxima's pads and perhaps the Accord's too. Van only has 38xx miles so I have a ways to go on that.

They ARE noisier than OEM pads for the first few stops till they warm up, such is the nature of THESE ceramic pads. However, they have a better feel and grab well. Regarding dust, unfortunately I don't pay much attention most of the time but thinking about it now, it IS less, perhaps due to the harder ceramic compounds? I'm on the original rotors and they are still true.

Checked recently and the price of the Wagners are about the same as OEM's online.

Both are very good, provide similar lifespans, but the lifetime replacement guarantee pushed me over to the dark side.
