Just bought a 2005 EX

Have found that the LCD displays used for the radio/clock as well as the climate control is VERY difficult to read during daytime. The displays are backlit at nite but during the day they are worthless.

Sorry to hear that, but in 10 months of the ownership, I can not say that I ever had a problem reading LCD displays, even in direct sunlight.

I have to agree with Murray1245 on this. My other car's display has orange numbers and letters on black background, which is much more legible in the daylight than the black text on gray background in my Ody.

Perhaps if one sits farther back, or at a greater reclining angle, then the clock display is clearer. But I prefer a more upright driving position, and I find it difficult to read the clock. This is an easy fix for Honda to make for -- I guess the 07's now.

Hrm. I have never had a problem with mine, with polarized sunglasses or with no sunglasses.

The only time I might have an issue is if I have the sunroof cover open or the sunroof open, and I'm driving at the perfect angle so the sun shines through the roof and down onto that spot on the dash.

With the sunroof cover closed, in my bolt upright seating position I have never had a problem.

Maybe it's somehow adjustable and yours is adjusted poorly?

OR! does the backlighting come on when you turn on your headlights? (I bet it does). I drive with my headlights permanently in the "on" position. My EX-L turns off the lights 15 seconds after the doors are locked and shut, so I may always have that little bit of backlighting going on.

I recommend turning on your lights. If you don't like leaving them on, there is an annoying reminder dinging that warns you anyway, so you'd have to be deaf to forget them.
