Cassette Adapter for CDs?

Does anyone have experience with using one of those cassette adapters to interface a portable CD player (or DVD) to the Honda cassette tape player?

I have an LX with FM and cassette, but want to play CDs. The Irock FM transmitter from Radio Shack is not an alternative since it is not available here in Canada.

If it's just for occasional use then one of the tape adapters should suit your purposes and be economical.

On the other hand, or should I say ear, my ears are satisfied with a wired, FM modulator, CD changer. I've got 10-CD Sony mounted under the driver's seat. You should be able to install one for less than $200 (US).

Just my 2¢ worth.

Thanks guys, I might just temporarily try the adapter appoach.

Mel:

A 10-disc changer under the seat would be ideal. But I'm not sure I understand what a "wired, FM modulator" refers to. Does this mean the Irock approach with the standard radio or something else?

(For interest, here in Canada Honda wants $600 for a SINGLE disc unit, plus another $400 for a multidisc changer. Nuts!)

Check this thread in the 'for sale' section. A guy is selling an EX radio + the accessory cassette for $100 + shipping. It would be a simple plug and play installation.

He means that the changer outputs it's sound to an FM signal, usually 88.X. The interface between your radio and the changer is a Y-adapter on the antenna input of your radio(one input from the changer, the other from your antenna. When you want to listen to the CDs, just tune in to 88.X. All the mainstream manufacturers have this type of system for $200-250. With X-mas coming, you might see some on sale on the day after Thanksgiving.

I too have used the cassette adapter before and the only issue I have is that you can hear the cassette wheel rolling and sometime it can be noisy...
