Meh. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you use that bin, you can't really store anything on the floor pad in front of it otherwise you can't slide the door open. I have a bunch of stuff like a tissue box and maps (yep, still keep some paper maps in case my phone dies) in that space. It seems you can either use the box or the floor pad, not both. If you like to keep a bunch of DVDs for the RES, then I think the box makes sense. But other than that, I don't think it's a big deal.

Totally searching for the same thing (have an EX)... Thanks OP for the part number!

There is indeed a cover on mine, not an open hole to where this sliding bin would go (really Honda? really?! big savings there I bet, bastards!).

Has anyone popped off that front cover? I wonder if it's as easy as pulling it off and slapping this bin in.

I bought the bin to see if there was any feasible way to install it. I ended up tossing the bin as it seems the actual molding on the console is different. Perhaps you could remove the whole center console and cut the molding and you will find the correct mount points for the bin, but unless you are willing to engage in what can be an expensive experiment, I don't recommend trying.

The console inner frames are completely different for the EX-L and lower models as compared to the Touring and Elite models.

If you remove and disassemble the lower model console you will find that the front half of the inner console skeleton was purposefully made impossible to upgrade by Honda to keep you from simply buying the drawer.

If you want this upgrade, you'll need to purchase the inner console box chassis specifically for a Touring or Elite in the color of your van. You then buy the drawer with divider.

Once those parts are in you remove the annoying old console from the van (several steps) and unsnap the upper top clamshell, remove all external decorative pieces, swap the sliding door, electronic items, add the drawer and put everything back together in reverse order.

In all it costs about $150 and takes about 2 hours.

Thanks Honda for making us have to do this since what you really wanted us to do was spend a lot more money on the higher model trims gadgets that absolutely don't work as they should.

pulled out the center armrest console this morning on 2022 EX-L (non RES), and flipped it over to see the "guts", basically what was stated in this thread is true, frame is totally different, the "space" that the slide drawer would occupy when closed is totally filled with useless plastic shaped purposefully so it would be a pain to modify. im going to try and contact a honda parts department and see if they have part numbers for the "base sliding bin" that would need to be replaced so the drawer will fit, not even sure if they sell it separately or if they will just jump the whole console together for $XXX.
I found the parts im talking about on Ebay, you can get a idea of what parts are needed.

EX-L (non RES) has this

EX-L w/RES / Touring / Elite has this

The yellow box area is the useless shaped plastic, this area im assuming would be hollow on the "base sliding bin" version

@jhko...was removing this center console simply removing both rubber pads, exposing screws that are mounted into the floor? Or were their clips and panels that had to be removed as well?

Ironically, the day you pulled this out, I went to the dealer which had 1 Elite on the lot, got some pictures to what I believe the required parts are to change this over to get the little bin. I went into parts and got an exploded view of the assembly for the Elite which shows item 29, 22 and 18 as the parts to convert.

Here's the basic EX area...notice, no groove for the drawer to slide in?

Here's the Elite with the drawer groove..

removing was pretty easy, basically remove the rubber mats and remove bolts, but you do need to remove some side panels that connect to the footwells, its not hard to see/figure out when your removing things.

so i went to my local dealer parts department, you are correct, you need to order the "whole" part #29 in your link, they dont sell just the front section of it. its also a "special" order part that cant be return either so im not sure yet if i want to pull the trigger and order it.

i got the "garbage" bucket in the front, so the drawer wouldnt be able to open unless i moved the bucket first, so now im reconsidering if $250 is worth it for a drawer that:
1. I dont miss/use since i dont have it yet,
2. i would need to move the bucket every time i want to open it

but it does seem like a fun/interesting project, and i still want to do it for the sake of doing it and to spite Honda for making it super annoying.

Mine is also hard to open, but as of recently I found out if I push down while gripping and pulling the front lid it will open. Works fine for that day but than the following day it's hard and it will not open again. I think it is all in the latching part not clearing the center console properly, just never took the time to file some plastic off where it is binding at.

Thank for the reply, @DJVAN. I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing. I'm looking to remove the drawer on the Touring and Elite models that slides forward toward the dash in between the seats to retrieve something that got trapped behind it. I don't see any way of removing the drawer; is that what you were describing in your comment above? Thanks in advance!

This is the cd/dvd drawer in the center console that I am talking about. You are wanting to remove it? I do not remember of taking it out of the center console, however when I removed the entire center console back in 2019 I though I saw a way to take it out. After whole console is picked out on the bottom side of the console I think there was 2 screws holding it from coming all the out. Understand - that's been back 4 years ago or more.

This is very helpful. Thanks so much. I was wondering if there was a release or otherwise a way to remove the drawer without removing the entire center bin. Seems like a lot of work to retrieve something, so I'll probably leave it there.

Thank you just the same!
