What engine can they put in new Honda Odyssey?
There’s only one 2.0 hybrid, turbo doesn’t go well

the new model will be officially released in June
Honda has already said 2025 Odyssey will not be a redesign and will only have "styling and technology enhancements." I've also seen absolutely nothing to indicate it will arrive in June. More likely Fall 2024.

Where did they say that for 2025 model year won’t be changed ?
Around June or july they will debut officially, production starts in late August to September

Honda press release about their 2024 plans:

Buried pretty far down is the only mention of Odyssey. It’s not even getting the “significant enhancements” that the mid model MDX is getting. Definitely no redesign. We are talking new wheels and maybe a digital dash. Wireless CarPlay. That sort of stuff.

“The Odyssey will receive styling and technology enhancements to maintain its competitiveness in the minivan segment.”

Are you really expecting vice president of sales to say we will redesign odyssey so don’t buy it this 2024 model year unless you have to and dealers have to give more discounts to sell

2025 redesign year, mark my words
2.0 hybrid

Kia redesign/make up confirmed
Toyota refresh is coming

MotorTrend confirms:

“Now in its eighth model year without a full redesign, the Honda Odyssey might surprise by not just surviving, but actually being a desirable 3-row SUV alternative. After a 2021 refresh, the 2025 Odyssey gets another update to stay competitive against the last remaining gas-fueled minivans in the U.S.: the Toyota Sienna, Chrysler Pacifica, and Kia Carnival.”

Yes. They announced multiple brand new cars coming out, as well as any car getting updates. Odyssey is not changing, sorry to disappoint you.

I am in a bit of squeeze and looking for guidance. My current lease expires in March, 2024. Should I wait for the Odyssey in July or August or just buy another car. I don’t want to buy the current generation (resale values + old tech )

Couple of questions.
  1. Are we guaranteed to see a new odyssey in mid 2024 as a 2025 model? Are there any Honda folks that can confirm

  2. If so, for the past 2 generations were the first year models reliable?
2025 Changes Per Dealership Leak

Hi All, just got the information from a Honda dealership that the following changes were coming for 2025(NOT official Honda confirmed):

2025 Odyssey - Updated Cabin. New grille and front fascia. New wheels. Digital gauge cluster. Configurable. 12.8” high-resolution screen for rear entertainment. Tons of USB-C ports. EX-L, Sport, Touring, and Elite will be the trims.

Hope they keep the current drivetrain or update to the newer DOHC V6 and the 2nd gen Honda 10-speed transmission. This V6 and its torquey power delivery and high efficiency is one of Honda Odyssey's great advantages against the competitions.

sounds pretty good to me. My husband is making us wait for the 2025, mostly for the digital display and hopefully wireless CarPlay. I’m hoping for different elite wheels as I don’t love the current ones. Touring (and old elite) wheels are so much prettier!

2024 Honda Odyssey Japan - This model is coming and will be built here. - here is why?

Japanese Version :

12.8" screen with same OS version from Pilot
2.0 Hybrid + eCVT - Current Accord/CR-V Hybrid Engine

As not many people buy Minivans, they need to cut costs significantly hence they have to use common parts/platforms.

I will look at the new model and maybe trade in for new 2.0 hybrid Odyssey

hmmm... some people was mad at me when I said 2025 is redesign year
minor updates are not the same as a redesign. And I’m not mad at you, I’m just telling you what’s been reported. I don’t claim to to have inside information. In the past and with other models, full redesigns are announced and not kept secret.

The day they give the Odyssey a 2.0 Hybrid is the day they'll lose customer base in the minivan segment. Especially when the Pacifica is keeping the V6 and Toyota went to the 2.0 Hybrid.

Minivan drivers want fuel efficient vehicles, not horsepower gas guzzlers

sienna sells a lot because of hybrid engine
You don’t know what you are talking about, the Asian Odyssey has been on a different platform from the North American one forever and there is zero chance it is coming here.

Clearly if this leak is real it’s a refresh.

I noticed no mention of upgrading the centre console screen. I would hope for a 12 inch like the accord and the ability to do cabinwatch and CarPlay side by side.

upgrading the gauge cluster and rear entertainment are way less important than the centre screen in my opinion.

removal of all remaining gloss black plastic would be nice as well, along with the new steering wheel from the Accord or Pilot.

That's not exactly true. The minivan owners who want fuel efficient vehicles buy them, like the Sienna or maybe the Pacifica Hybrid. Some of us aren't concerned about fuel economy and just want the trusty V6. I would also say the Sienna doesn't sell too much considering Honda sold double the amount of Odyssey's compared to the Sienna. The way of the future is a Hybrid platform, but I don't think Honda is there yet. I mean, look at the new Pilot, it has an updated J35 and no Hybrid powertrain, that should be enough evidence. Moreover, like I said earlier, there has been no Special Edition trim to the Odyssey, so there won't be a new body style for 2025. Honda always comes out with a Special Edition trim before launching the new model.

Here are the sales figures comparing the Odyssey and Sienna.

Honda quietly updated the Ridgeline's interior without saying much. I'll guess the same for the 25 Ody.
Thanks. I didn't notice they made those changes to the Ridgeline. To summarize the minor changes:

1. Updated centre infotainment screen to newer infotainment from the Pilot, and a 1 inch screen size increase. (good but meh, want 12 inch from Accord). This would be harder to do in the Odyssey since it sticks up and is not integrated the same way.
2. Replaced all digital gauge cluster with the half digital half analog from the Accord (meh).
3. Got rid of the individual armrests and made a big centre console (they better not do this on the Odyssey).
4. Didn't replace the steering wheel but replaced the buttons on it to match the new button layout.

Overall, I agree this looks likely as the Odyssey's evolution. I hope it's more, if it's this there is very little reason to upgrade.
