DIY car seat protectors

Just wanted to share my solution for seat protection in our new Odyssey. I wanted to protect our leather from our car seats, but couldn't find well-reviewed seat covers, and also didn't want to hide the look of the seats. I ended up buying foam exercise mat tiles for about $10, cutting them to size, and then using heavy-duty Velcro to attach them to the bottoms and rears if our car seats. Now our seats are protected, you can still see the leather seats we paid for, the pads are attached to the car seats so removing them is as simple as taking out a car seat, and if we want to use our car seats in another car, the pads quickly pull off leaving just the soft side of the Velcro on the underside of the car seats, which won't damage anyone else's seats.

So these prevent leather stretching and foam to be dents?

I went the towel method and haven’t seen the results yet.
Got leather so it’s easy to clean but the dang kids seats are ruining the price I paid. Just can’t win ?

How thick are these?

Yep, goal was to prevent denting of the leather. Had them on for about a month and no denting so far. The foam is doing it's job of dispersing the pressure. I went with 0.5" foam; thick enough to prevent seat damage but thin enough that they'll allow tight, secure car seat installation.

Brilliant, stsa84! I would think the exercise mats are designed for medium-impact by adult humans and are also durable. The bottom of the car seats has a lot of surface area relative to the weight of the little kids. If you haven't seen any imprinting after a month, I doubt you will. I drive the EX but my friend has an Accord Touring with leather seats. He uses a booster seat for his grandson. I'll forward your idea. Thanks for sharing!
