Do Honda dealers provide free tire leak repair?

Our 2019 Ody EX developed a slow leak in the right rear tire. Slow like going from 35 lbs to 27 lbs in about 2 weeks. I discovered that there is a screw head showing in the threads so that must be the cause. The van has low milage and the tire still has a lot of thread left.

Question is do Honda dealers provide free tire leak repair. The tires are factory originals. Does Costco provide free tire repair even if the tire is a factory original and not purchased from them?

If not, anyone know what the going rate is to remove the screw and repair the tire would be?

Honda dealer won't do anything for free for the most part.

Discount Tire does free flat repairs. Not all other tire shops do it for free however.

Good will to earn your business for the next tire purchase. Les Schwab, Discount Tire, and other larger chains do it. They don't make any money on you that visit, but they have you there browsing their sales floor.

Similar to why dealer service departments usually do oil changes under cost. They don't make any money on that, but they have your car on a lift for a "complimentary multi point inspection" so they can try and up sell you on other services you potentially need.

If you are willing to pay the dealer premium, good. The local ones here never took us in immediately for anything. Even if we had an appointment, it always took hours. I do not go to the dealers due to that bad level of a service. IF you say we will leave the car, even an oil change would take half a day or more. If you wait, you still almost never got out in 2 hours and that is WITH an appointment. :)

May be it depends on your local dealer(s) I suppose.

I do not know of any Tire place that will fix any brand of tire for free if you did not purchase them there. The Honda dealer or any other Auto company gives you the warranty for that said Tire company... lot of good it does, the only thing they will cover is a manufactures defect.
I had taken our ODY into Honda dealer for a recall and told them the right front tire needed repaired and balanced. They said it would be $24.95. When I came back 2 days later to pick-up the ODY, they had not repaired the tire, so I waited there for them to repair it. When they got done they told me that there will be no charge for the tire repair as they had the ODY for 2 days and should have been repaired during that time. The mechanic that was working on the sliding doors had to order both cards in both left and right sliding doors. (they was running very slow and the driver's side would hang-up roughly at the point where it pulls in at the last 20" and stop). He had blown off looking on the tire as he was concentrating on why the sliding doors wasn't working as it should have been. All in all, Hondas will not repair tires for free, unless you have extenuating circumstances. I have been using Costco since building in Omaha, and have not regret my choice, but I see now they have a new tire repair policy that I will have to read up on it.

People literally listed at least 2 or 3 companies that do above your post. Les Schwab, American Tire, Discount Tire, and many other major tire shops will do it for free. :)

I would rather fix the tire myself with those tire repair kits than to go through the effort of replacing the tire, putting on the spare, taking it to the shop and being told half the time they can’t fix it and I should replace not one but 2 or at times all 4 tires.

Since you already found the screw, it would only take 5 mins to fix it. You may not even need to remove the tire.

Kits like this work well:

tritan, did you know you need to plug the tire and patch it inside of the tire as well. If, not saying you would after patching your tire have a major accident due to the tire you repaired incorrectly blown out you are 100% responsible for any other vehicle involved even if you did not cause the accident. Here is what I found on the Web to show you this information.

The U.S. government through the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulates several aspects of tire repairs and maintenance. DOT states that regular tire maintenance is necessary to avoid sudden tire failure on the road. DOT sets tire repair guidelines that tire shops have to follow.

Punctured Tire
Repairing a punctured tire involves plugging the hole in the tire. It also requires a patch for the inside of the tire, around the area of the puncture. Note that tires have to be completely separated from the rim to be properly repaired, plugged, and patched.
Repairable And Non-Repairable
According to the DOT, any puncture that is in the side wall or shoulder, or shoulder to the side wall area of the tire is considered a non-repairable puncture. Punctures through the tread, if not too large, are repairable.
Industry Standard
Industry standard guidelines permit tire repair shops to fix punctures in a tire's tread area that are up to ¼ inch in diameter. Repairing anything larger in not recommended. The three essential sets to repairing a tire correctly include properly evaluating the object that caused the puncture (damage), reestablishing an airtight seal of the tire's inner liner, and completely patching the entire damaged area of the tire.

Nope, I did not. They may as well sue the manufacturer of the plugs and Walmart for selling it to me. That said, I learned something new browsing this site today. 😊
