Look to see if the previous owner did the right thing and installed a VCM Muzzler. A VCM Muzzler essentially disables the VCM system from engaging.

It's easy to find it if you know what to look for, but there are different versions that may have been installed.

 

I’ll check this out. I’m familiar with the VCM issues since this is our second Odyssey but I’ve never actually seen a muzzler. I checked out the videos on YouTube so I’ll see if I can find it.

 

The prior owner may have been smart and installed a muzzler. That keeps the VCM from kicking in and causing problems over the long run.

 

Eco not turning on sounds like a good thing to me.
I'd turn mine off if only the darn VCM Tuner II would stop going out of stock within 5 minutes of coming back in stock. Sigh.

 

If you're not in a CARB state, the S-VCM controller is every bit as good as the VCMTuner II and seems to be available for more than 5 minutes per week.

 

Oh that sounds good to me. We don't have any emissions checks here. Heck my old 99 has a hollow metal box for a cat because it collapsed inside.

I'll fix it eventually... super low priority as it only gets driven in the summer, average of around 1k miles a year on it.

I think thats great that the stupid ECO light isn't coming on. Check at the coolant temp sender DS front of engine for a muzzler, sounds like you have one. If so, you just saved whatever the going rate for muzzlers is these days!

 

This is not something you'd like to see. If you see a VCMuzzler or Tuner there then it is simply a sign that the previous owner took good care of your van.

It may be useful to figure out what type it is so you know if you'll ever need to adjust it or anything like that.
