HD is having sale on Ridgid High torque impact wrench (1300ft lb break away power)

It INCLUDES 2x 4AH Max Output battery and charger and LIFETIME warranty INCLUDING batteries.

$199 is hard to beat including batteries and charger and it should be comparable power to older Milwaukee high torque models (I did hear newer revised ones - not the ones with VERY high failure rate due to plastic gear part - are slightly more powerful).

This should be powerful enough for TB work.

"Should be" and actually being powerful enough are two different things. On Paper, there are several impact wrenches which should be able to break that bolt free. But most do not work. Does this work?

The $99 Hyper Tough high-torque from Walmart also tests at this level of torque, if anyone wants a cheap option.

I used a basic HF Earthquake air impact running off a very small compressor and it did the job with a weighted socket.

Tempted by the Ridgid deal, since I already have Ridgid 18v tools. But I just picked up some M12 Fuel tools and I might be retiring the 18v Ridgid.

If you DO buy this, don't forget to register the tools! I just got free replacement of an 18v Ridgid battery that was about 10 years old.

That is definitely a good deal.

I am not sure if this new version is the same one as the old Ridgid but

My old Ridgid (R86211 purchased a few years ago) is actually bigger and heavier than the Milwaukee (old version). The Ridgid is definitely bigger and weights in at 6.2lbs VS. the Milwaukee 5.8lbs.
I own both of them.

No, old Ridgid Octane version (that is what you have) coupled with Octane battery SLIGHTLY outruns this one and also it outruns Milwaukee as well. That said, that one is bigger and heavier though. Going word is that TTI stopped making that Octane model because it was eating into the sales of Milwaukee high torque.

CFM for an air impact is kind of the wrong thing to measure, it's basically how powerful the motor+compressor are, and most 110V compressors end up being close in CFM.

For air impacts, you need the hose, connectors, and regulator to flow air effectively. If you're getting restrictions there, pressure is going to drop a lot when you pull the trigger.

A small tank will only give you a few seconds at full power before dropping off. IME, a few seconds can be enough to get the job done.

I have a crank bolt to loosen tomorrow, anyone want to bet if my 4-gal Hitachi will be able to handle it?

It's been said a thousand times already but having the weighted socket is the most important part. Although regardless that does sound like a good deal to me.

I did the timing belt job with a $100 corded Kobalt impact and the weighted socket made quick work of the crank pulley bolt and was $20.
My experience says otherwise. I had the weighted socket and a ryobi mid-torque and it did not budge. It wasn't till I got a 2767 that the bolt came off almost instantly.

At this point, CHEAPEST cordless setup will probably be weighted socket (this is pretty much requirement) + Walmart Hyper Tough 20V high torque impact wrench (latest version) setup.

Don't know about longevity of the impact and battery but it should be capable since Torque test channel tested it and with 4AH battery that it comes with, it comes VERY close or slightly exceeds Milwaukee high torque V2 in performance and it is $99 including charger and 1 battery + 3 yr warranty though it isn't easy to find since there is only 1 store near my place that has it in stock and it is out of stock for delivery - I guess the word has gone out regarding the price/performance of this unit.
