Hello,

As a surprise, I'm picking up my roommate's mother at the airport on Friday (10/16/20) and she is flying with her mobility scooter (a disability scooter like this. I don't know the model though.) Our 2003 EXL seems pretty big but we can't tell until we get there. We have fit a Vespa-style scooter in there before so I think it can handle it.

She says the tallest point is 49 inches. My husband measured the side door and came up with 47 inches. He also thought the inside was around 47 inches, which doesn't make sense to me.

We will be removing all the seats and I can sit anywhere on the floor, so she will sit shotgun -- 3 adults only. My husband is 28 so lifting it isn't a problem.

We don't have a trailer hitch on the bumper.

Can anyone tell me if you've tried this, or how tall your inside and side door is? Could we fit it on it's side as a workaround?

Looks like the front handlebar can adjust, so tilting it onto the seat may make it easier to get it in. Oh- that's just a comparable model- still, the handle bar should adjust and be able to tilt back. Inside of the van is taller than the rear hatch opening, and an inch or two taller than the side opening. I'm not sure that the side door is wide enough to get it in.
You probably can fit it in the back and keep one middle row seat so that you don't roll around on the trip home! :ROFLMAO:

Even if the handle bar and the seat don't come off, it might still fit diagonally in the back with 3rd row folded down. But lifting this thing is close to 100lb, that you might want to be careful on.

Walmart listed the overall height is only 35" I really doubt this thing is this tall. Once you get the handle bar side in, there will be extra few inches from the frame inside.

I would suggest getting the actual model# so you can pull up product info. I would also be cautious about tipping on its side unless and until you confirm that the battery is safe in that position.
On the other hand, unless it's the cheapest of Chinese knockoffs, these things are generally designed for transport, with handlebars and seats that readily fold, adjust, or otherwise fit into smaller "boxes".

I have a friend who has one of these and it folds. It will easily fit in a car trunk. It would easily fit behind the third row with it up even. I doubt you need to remove any second row seats. There is a crossbar you use to lift it, do not use the handlebars. They do not have wet batteries, they are cleared to fly as luggage and fit upright in the same space a folded wheelchair takes up (maybe a little wider)

A mobility scooter will absolutely fit. If you can, stow the rear seat of the van and then there is ample room. My wife has a disability and uses a mobility scooter. Hers is slightly larger and fits just fine (in fact, we have a hydraulic ramp / platform that stows it in the back of my 2002 Ody). If you are lifting it in you'll probably be taking it apart a bit... the seat comes off the scooter, the battery usually comes off to make it easier to handle getting in and out.
