I could not get our new '08 Odyssey Homelink to work with our garage opener. Wife was very upset that our new vehicle couldn't do it!
Hence, my mission!
I searched the internet and read every instruction. None worked. Turns out our opener was a 1999 model Liftmaster that used 433mhz.
The homelink is good to 399mhz I believe.
I went to Home Depot (based on a post I read on a bmw forum) and bought a Chamberlain Universal Receiver. They claim to work with ANY old opener. So the steps were:
1. Unplug opener.
2. Attach wire to new Universal Receiver, and then to the opener.
3. Plug both in.
4. Press learn button on new receiver and use the NEW remote that comes with the receiver.
So, this new remote is under the 399 mhz, allowing me to program the Homelink in the Odyssey as per normal instructions.
Now it works, and my life is much better because my wife is very happy that she doesn't have an UGLY OLD GARAGE DOOR OPENER IN A NEW CAR!
I will never hear, "IT'S NOT FAIR THAT YOUR TRUCK OPENS THE GARAGE DOORS AND I CAN'T!"
Yeehaw!
Hope this will help others that had my problem, because there were NO clear instructions like this anywhere on the net.
