A newbie question, now that I'm looking I see tons of Odysseys, how can I tell by looking at them what year/model they are? Pictures would be helpful or URL to a site that has this info.

thanks in advance

Well, for starters 1999-2004 used the same body style, with minor changes typical of mid-cycle Honda updates. Example, 99-01 had red rear turn signals, 2002-04 used amber. They also changed the alloy wheel pattern at the same time.

Other visual cues can be used to distinguish LX vs. EX trim levels. Not that may LXs driving around, but they usually have black door pulls (and are usually sans the roof rack unless owner had ordered it), whereas the EX models have the door handles painted to match the rest of the body.

I haven't really paid much attention to the 2005+ models since 1) I don't own one and 2) they are still out of my price range!

Google images is your friend, and there are plenty of car review sites which have good pictures of various car makes and models.

The Generation 3 begins for the Odyssey 2005+ and shifts a few body modifications in 2008+.

2005-2007
• The Odyssey rear tailgate badging shifts from the left to right between years

2008
• Introduces new grill redesign with same exterior color tone, slight front bumper and standard grill protection on all models, new rim options for EX thru Touring (non PAX), and new tail light configuration. EX+ model now has rear camera backup standard, TPMS and VCM.
• Other new interior options over previous 05-07 models.

2009-2010
• Same design style as '08 with addition of power close hatch in '09 similar to previous and current Touring models.

2011
• Differences unknown

Expanding on Fanman's description

The Generation 3 begins for the Odyssey MY2005+ and Mid Model Changes were introduced with MY2008 +

Some of the exterior differentiators for various Trims of 3G ody are

LX: Doesn't have body colured mirrors, No Moonroof, Has Steel wheels with Cover
EX: Has body coloured Mirror. No Moonroof. Has alloy wheels
EX-L/EX-L Res: Has Moonroof + Body colured Mirrors. Has Alloy wheels
EX-L NAV/Res: Above + Has XM receiver on the roof towards the the rear of the Van. Also there is a rear view camera on top of licensce plate
Touring Res: PAX wheels (looks different than alloy wheels), Has Chrome stripping on the back, has parking sensor on Front and Rear bumper. Fog lamp included as standard.
Touring Nav/Res: All of above + Has XM receiver on the roof towards the the rear of the Van. Also there is a rear view camera on top of licensce plate.

Fog Lamp could be added as an accessory to any Trim.
Parking sensor can be added as an accessory to Rear Bumper of any Trim. But only the Touring has them on front bumper.

2005: First year of 3G ody. The badging was on the Right Side of Tailgate.
2006: Bading moved to left side of Tailgate.
2007: No external Visual Difference from 2006.

2008: Year of MMC - New grill redesign with a revised front fascia which included revised Fog Lamps and standard grill protection on all models. In the rear there was new Tail Light configuration.
New alloy wheels introduced for EX/EX-L and a separate alloy for Touring (Non Pax). Rear backup camera introduced for EX & EX-L trims.
• Other new interior options over previous 05-07 models.

2009: No visual external changes from 2008.
However in 2009 power hatch similar to Touring was added to EX models

2010: No visual external changes from 2008/2009

2011: Differences unknown

P.S. There were several interior revisions over the year, but since those can not be identified from a quick glance of the vehicle, I only focused on the exterior changes. Incase I missed any please feel to edit & update or PM me and I will update my post.
