I have a 3.5L Engine that I am trying to figure out if it is an i-VTEC or simply just a VTEC. I need to order an alternator and a starter which both are from Desno and there are 2 types of each. Both state that one is “w/o VCM” and the other states “w/ VCM”. Does anyone have any knowledge of this situation that could help? I have looked through the vehicle including on the engine and under the hood to see where it might state that but to no avail.

What trim level do you have? Have you read the VCM megathread?

The short answer is yes, in this case, i-VTEC and VCM are referring to the same thing. The VCM engines are labeled as i-VTEC VCM while the non-VCM engines are just labeled as VTEC.

Sounds like it's anywhere between '05-'10. If @Klueey14 is scared off with the size of the VCM Mega-thread, the quick answer is: if you have Leather seats (EX-L or Touring) you have VCM, if you have cloth seats (LX or EX) then you have VTEC and no VCM.
If you have leather and VCM, go back and read the 1st post of the VCM Mega-thread after changing your alternator!
