Is your Blitzsafe HON/AUX DMX V.2X still working?

I've been reading the old threads about folks using the Blitzsafe HON/AUX DMX V.2X on their Ody's. I have also been reading some reviews at Amazon about the unit not always being recognized and the need to turn off the radio and the vehicle and then restart everything to get it to work.

Have any of the long time users of this product been seeing this problem? I would like to add an Aux port to my NTM 06 EX-L and thought that the Blitzsafe unit was the way to go, but now I'm not sure.

Amazon reviews can be found here:

Thanks!

Have you tried a CHEAP alternative? Like running wire from third row aux to the driver side? If you want it neat, you can fish the wire through the side step and come through below the driver's seat.. I got 10ft 3.5mm line and RCA to 3.5mm line adaptor to get this going. I just left the line under the carpetting.

It works well for me..

Thanks, but there is no third row Aux in my EX-L. I don't have a RES.

I have one that works well in my 05 EXL. Takes no more than 15 minutes if you have done it before. Locate the plug from under the dash, plug it in and run the wire to the center and use wire ties to hold in place.

I have the one with the iphone / ipod 30 pin adapter. I also just added the 3.5mm cable to attach to my son's iphone 5S.

Thanks. I ordered the unit from enfig, $70 with shipping.

The name of the product is "BlitzSafe HON/AUX DMX V.2X (guaranteed to be recognised by radio)"

It's interesting that they added those words to the product name, and I don't mean the description, I mean the name.

Here's the text from my receipt:

Qty Name SKUEach
1 BlitzSafe HON/AUX DMX V.2X (guaranteed to be recognised by radio)BLITZSAFE_HON_AUX_DMX_V2X $64.99

It seems as if they've read the reviews and want to let potential buyers know that they are aware of the issue. We'll see what happens.

I just installed the unit in my 06 EX-L. Piece of cake and the radio recognized it immediately - sort of.

When I press the Aux/XM button on the radio, there is a delay of two to three seconds before the tunes start. If I switch back to FM, the station plays immediately, switching back to Aux and there is the delay again. I guess it's just something I'll have get used to.

Sure beats the crappy $20 FM transmitter I tried.

One more update: It's just another annoyance, but the volume when using the Blitzsafe unit is much lower than the AM/FM volume on the head unit itself. Even with the volume on my phone up to almost max I also need to turn the head unit volume up to almost max. I then need to remember to turn the head unit volume down before I switch to FM or AM to avoid blasting both the speakers and my ears.

Just something that I'll need to keep in mind.
Used mine for many years with the very same nuances, but still a quality, inexpensive option. Now that the '06 got replaced with the '07 RES I use the 3rd row aux, but with a similar experience. Low volume and delayed switching.

Hummm...I wonder what the root cause of the problem is.

If the after-market AUX units and the OEM RES both display the same low volume and switching delay issues, doesn't that point to the common component - the head unit?

I suspect the delay is due to the fact that the aux and xm functions share the button. It takes a moment for the head unit to decipher where the signal is coming from and it most likely has a protocol to follow with regard to the primary function if there should be a signal from both sources. This is simply a guess since I have never had the XM receiver installed and I don't know if that button will toggle between aux and xm if there is a signal available from both. I do know that my current Samsung S5 has more volume output via the 3.5mm jack than my previous phone did, so there is potentially one factor in the volume issue.

True, the "dual function" button may be the cause of the delay. FWIW, the instructions from Blitzsafe say to push the CD button twice to use the AUX unit, but we know that that is not right for the Ody's. They also said to plug the cable into the back of the head unit, never mentioning the cable in the kick panel. I'm sure the "rear of the head unit" instructions cover all vehicles and the Ody's are a special case for which another option exists.

If you mean that my phone may not be putting out enough signal, I too have an S5 so I assume I have the same signal output as you.

I haven't tried the Blitzsafe with my iPad yet. I think I'll compare my iPad and S5 on my home system at various volume levels to see if there is a significant volume difference between the 2 and then try them both in the Ody.

Stay tuned! (pun intended)
