I have the 2025 Odyssey Elite. The radio shuts off when I turn the van off. There are times I want to hear the last few minutes of a broadcast before getting out of the van. Other than hitting the start button again is there a setting I can change to allow the accessories to shutoff when I open the door?

Short answer, no. Try shifting into neutral, then shutting the engine off.

Oh, that's different from our 2019 EX. When I turn the engine off, the audio keeps playing until I open the driver's door, then the audio shuts off. Actually, I would prefer that the audio shut off when I turn the engine off. Is there a way to have the audio go off when I shut the engine off?

It's happened a number of times that I turned the engine off and the audio kept playing while I was distracted doing something before opening the driver's door. I'm still stepping on the brake (without thinking*) and press the engine on/off button to turn off the engine .... only to have the engine start up again. I don't like that since it's wasting the battery charge by a needless engine start. Being retired, most of our trips are short to stores in our area so needless engine starts contribute to battery depletion.

* The still stepping on the brake without thinking is because the trans is in "Drive" when I press the start/stop button to turn off the engine. I let the shift to "Park" happen automatically. Guess subconsciously I'm thinking that as long as the audio is playing, the engine is still running and the trans is still in "Drive", when I'm distracted doing something .

I tried doing that based on others suggestions and it still turns off the radio and shifts the car into park.

That is not standard operation, unless the 2025 has a different Menu selection for what turns off with ignition shutting off.
I would have the Dealer look at it when your next due for maintenance. If not due soon, I would schedule an appointment to have them look at it.

The standard operation is for 15 minutes the radio, DVD player will stay on for 15 minutes or unless you open the drivers door.

2018 CRV: radio shuts off when engine is shut off, shift to neutral trick will keep the radio on.
2018 Odyssey (sold): radio continues to run when engine is shut off, turns off when driver's door is opened. Use caution to prevent running the battery down.
2024 CRV: radio shuts off when engine is off, haven't tried neutral trick yet.
2024 Pilot: radio continues to run until driver's door is opened.

I'm guessing Honda made a change at some point to immediately shut the radio off when the engine is shut off.

I asked the dealer and they came to the conclusion that the 2025 shuts down everything when you turn the car off. My husband’s 2024 Miata does the same thing so it’s a an annoying feature.

For more years than the current years all accessory items shut-off with the key in the off position, thus was the reason for the acc (accessory) position was added into the ignition system. The accessory position than allowed for all the items to work, but as much the problem now drains the battery down. I can recall as a youngster being in my parents 57 station wagon (Nomad) with several other siblings, while our mother went into a S&H stamp store, we played the radio, bad idea. Those old tube type radios run the battery down so fast, while we waited for our mother to get a jump start from some kind person back then. It also didn't help we had played with the electric windows as well. Punishment given by our father when he got home from work, punishment we deserved.

My 2000 radio stays on and I can operate the electric windows if they are still down and I need roll them up if I haven't opened the drivers door.
Maybe there is a way to disable this, but I don't mind it if the window is down a bit and I have removed the keys. No need to reinsert the key to ACC to roll the windows up.

I think I’ve found a safer way to keep radio/ accessory power on while turning off the engine.
- 2016 Odyssey EX-L.

- after you shift to park, keep pressing the gear release button under your thumb. Before you release it, press and release the START/STOP button to turn off engine. (Using left hand) Engine will shut off, and the radio will stay on. Now you can release the button. The radio will stay on.

Put the car in Neutral, and then press again the Neutral button for 2 seconds (this turns on the neutral hold mode), and then make sure to turn on the Emergency Brake, and then you can turn off the engine and the accessory mode will still be on, and when your done listening to whatever you want just press the Park button.
