I recently purchased a new ody and want to treat my leather seats. The dealer suggested to simonize the seats in their service detailing department.

Does anyone know what the best product to use for my seats?

Thanks,

Mike

I've heard a lot of good things about Lexol. I've actually used it on an old leather jacket of mine but not on my car.

However, the only product I've thus used so far was the leather care kit from costco. It came with a cleaner and conditioner which I used to spruce up a car before I sold it. Can't tell how well it worked since the car is gone!

I agree with the Lexol!!!!!!

2 or more times a year, depending on how much use and sun the seats recieve......

Lexol, store it inside if you are in cold country. Keep wipes around just to hit the spot on the left of drivers seat that gets all the strain, but use the full product elsewise. Don't forget leather cleaner too, before conditioning. Twice a year should do fine.

Keep in mind that it could be a year or longer before your leather starts to really seem broken in and smoother. Shifter leather needs attention too...

I'll add my vote for Lexol as well as products made by Leatherique. I love their leather conditioner as well as leather treatment. It really makes a difference when the weather starts to warm up! You apply the treatment directly onto the seats and let it work in the hot sun. Good stuff!

A little tangent, but some other products of interest.

Here is a dash product that is way better than Armor All, doesn't leave a 6-in thich shiny shell, just a nice matte sheen with great protection and even coverage. Used on Harleys around the world (no affiliation with company, but I use it on my bike):

Another killer product is called the Bom, also used on cycles, I do my entire bike with it, but its priceless for spot attention to the Ody, and ocassionally I will do the whole thing. Do not confuse this with another cycle product called Boms Away, which is an aluminum polish. One bottle lasts a very long time.

I also feel it pays to polish the wheels right away to give them a protective layer to clean easy. They seem to be able to collect grime very hard to get off when they are new.

I have used Lexol as well as Zaino and have been very happy with both.

Lexol does not leave the seats as slippery as the Zaino, but I love the Zaino smell and it makes the seats easier to slide into and out of.

Both are great products, IMHO.

The leather in the Odyssey is slightly better than GM uses, but not much. The cleaner/conditioner won't make much of a difference, as the leather is not an actual dyed leather, but painted. This is why it is hot or cold, as it can't breathe. Other good leathers are stained/dyed and the pores are kept open. Those need better cleaners/conditioners. The paint on Honda's "leather" seats can probably take just about any type of cleaner/conditioner.
