Multiple codes after getting tree branch stuck under car

Hi,

2001 Odyssey LX with 151000 miles

My wife drove over a tree branch and it got stuck up under the passenger front just behind the front right tire. The car had to be jacked up to pull the branch out.

After the branch was pulled out the following happened:

1. D4 light started blinking
2. CEL came on
3. TCS light came on

Note: Driving in D4 has a noticeable lack of power until the car gets up to speed.

The car drives fine in R D1, D3

Today I put the car up on ramps and looked around for damage and couldn't find anything notable.

Reading out the codes I get the following (here are excerpts from the Odyssey Service manual):

P1753 (1) Blinks ON Torque converter clutch solenoid valve (see page 14-119)

(2): This code is caused by an electrical circuit problem and cannot be caused by a mechanical problem in the
transmission.

P0135 (41) Primary Heated Oxygen Sensor (Primary HO2S) (Sensor 1) Heater CircuitMalfunction ON (see page 11-128)
P0141 (65) Secondary Heated Oxygen Sensor (Secondary HO2S) (Sensor 2) Heater CircuitMalfunction ON (see page 11-128)

P1298 (20) Electrical Load Detector (ELD) Circuit High Voltage OFF (see page 11-155)

Any ideas what could cause all this?

Sounds like an electrical problem

I'm going to climb back under and check the electrical connectors on the O2 sensors.

Does anyone know where the Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Vavle is located?

Also any idea where the ELD 3P connector is located?

Thanks,

Jim

You are on the right track Jim. Looks like the branch broke all the wiring around there. You might need some new harnesses or might have to patch up the connectors to the wires. I highly recommend soldering the joints due to where the wires are (if you choose to NOT replace the harnesses to the TCC Solenoid Valve and the 2 O2 Sensors).

Jim,

Abrupt changes to wheel rotation will trigger the TCS, D4, and ECL lights. What is of concern with the tree removed, your Ody does not drive correctly in that mode along with the clutch solenoid failure, this is the one to watch.

The other ones with the O2 sensors can be checked as dvpatel mentioned.

Have you tried resetting the ECL removing fuse 13 from the passenger footwell fusepanel to see if the problem persists?

Folks,

Thanks for all your help. Here's what the solution was:

I followed the troubleshooting procedure for the P1278 -Electrical Load Detector (ELD) Circuit High Voltage code which suggested checking the Cruise Control fuse, which was blown. I replaced it and reset the ECU (cleared the codes) and everything works fine.

Here's some of the steps for troubleshooting code P1278:

Measure voltage between body ground and ELD 3P
connector terminal No. 1.
Go to step 8.
Check the No. 6 ECU (PCM) CRUISE
CONTROL (15A) fuse in the driver’s under-dash
fuse/relay box. If the fuse is OK, repair open in the
wire between the No. 6 ECU (PCM) CRUISE
CONTROL (15A) fuse and the ELD.

What caused this is the question. When the car was stuck on the branch perhaps the excessive wheel spin caused some sensor to overload or perhaps the branch caught some wires underneath and shorted something out. I spent a great deal under the car and couldn't find any wires/cables/connections that looked damaged.

Oh well, I'll update this thread should it return.

Thanks again

P0135,P0141 and P0748 turns out wrong

I had issues with my stop light working replaced stop switch, then my cruise stopped working.
I started getting check engine light.I thought it was because i seafoamed engine.
Autozone guys told me i had P0135,P0141 and P0748
Took Ody to dealer they wanted $99 to check cruise and $99 to check engine light.
After evrything was fixed they said they had to a switch alignment(not sure if thats true).
invoice has following code P1298 which they say was fixed .
right now no issues i drove only for about 50 mile so far has to see.if they just reset light or fixed anything.
Any thoughts posting as another thread but thought t belongs here as well.
