Purchased a 2012 TE for my wife back on 8/29. We have 3 girls (3,5 & 7) and upgraded from a 2007 Nissan Quest. Here's a couple pics of it, everyone knows what they look like though

I'm a modding person myself for every vehicle I've had, so I figured this Ody would be no difference. I grew up around a shop (father's a mechanic) and I've done plenty of custom vehicles (can google image my username) and I'm also an Administrator and Moderator and a bunch of other forums.

First thing we did was window tint. Her last van was DARK, so she wanted to stay light with the Black/Truffle combo. Put 50% around the back 5 windows, 35% for the front 2 windows, and 50% down the entire windshield.

For the exterior:

This is a Florida vehicle, but for some reason the rotors and brakes were rusty so I used som ecaliper paint and get them looking better than new.

Also installed some Nokya Yellow Fog Light bulbs

Comarison yellow on pass side, oem on drivers

Then for the exterior I added the Pilot mirror blinkers

Then started with the inside. I already posted a thread on how to fix/upgrade the Ambient Footwell Accessory (here http://www.odyclub.com/forums/27-diy-modifications/249881-2011-ambient-footwell-modification.html) and I swapped out all the interior bulbs to LEDs. I also added Honda Door Sill Trim Kit and the WeatherTech floor mats (OEM Ody trunk Mat came with it).

The rubber was coming off on the cup holders in the console, so I grabbed some foam and tried to make a decent looking cutout to replace it with. I'll be trimming them up better a little later

I have the NavTool piece to install, along with swapping out one of the front cig lighters to a dual USB port. More on those later. I've also purchased the nonslip pads and they just came in today, so I'll snap a pic of them as well.

That's it for now. Most of this was done within the first week of purchase, just haven't been able to make a thread for it all, or install the rest of it. I have a bunch more mods coming, but I'll wait to post about those till later.

Looks great! I have a 2013 and also live in Jax. Did the door sills also. Thought about doing the Pilot swap on the side mirrors but heard it was a painful mod to do.

Also wanted to paint the brake calipers red but my wife veto'd it :D.

Looking forward to seeing what else you have in store.

Please let us know how the NavTool install goes. I've been looking at this for a couple years now and have finally convinced the wife on letting me buy this for Xmas (she is afraid about the warranty being voided along with the distraction of having a movie being played on the navigation screen). I told her that it's mostly for her when she sits in the front seat and I will use it only while parked.

Also was it difficult to replace the orange signal with the clear? I just bought the passenger side mirror housing to replace my broken one and have not had the chance to install it yet. Thanks!!

I've installed car stereo for about 20 years now off and on so it should be fairly easy (for me) to install. I've also found a thread on here (http://www.odyclub.com/forums/11-au...ums/11-audio-video-security-navigation/169482-navtool-install-2011-touring.html) where someone has done it so I'll kinda go by their pics as well. I'll definitely post it on here as well.

Honestly, it was a little PITA. I felt like I was going to break everything the entire time I was doing it. Pulling the mirror out and putting it back on, pull the plastics apart to get to the screws. The first side took 45ish minutes so I was careful not to break anything. The 2nd side took about 15 minutes.

Curious about the dual USB thing - there are those plug in things that split the port into two USB's. Why not just use one of those to make it easier? Or is there a big difference in power output?

As for the Navtool, is the install very complicated? Looks like something I'd love to try out some time. I love to do mods as well. I've done the cheapo intake mod, LED's inside and outside so far.

you can't close the outlet cover with one of those in. We have those for now, as I've been working on average 76hrs a week for the last 4 weeks :(

Here's the thread that someone else posted abotu installing their NavTool

I still haven't gotten to this. Like I said before, I've been working a lot. I'm going to try and tackle it within the next few days though.

I don't understand the concept of these floor/mood lights when they have NO way to shine the lights thru?

Fun Fact: they DO come on when you have the Parking lights ON SMH

"Technically" the black covers are semitransparent, but just barely. Before drilling a hole in them, I could turn them on and see a faint blue light.

Thread subscribed! I had the older NAVTOOL installed to mirror the factory DVD player and then I just upgraded to the HDMI version.

I installed and connected a Roku 3 and split the input signal to the rear HDMI port. The only problem I have is the Nav display is shaky and goes on and off...I contacted NAVTOOL and they have a ticket open with the engineers. They said that it may just be firmware update. I'm hoping that's the issue because I've tried different HDMI cables and still get the same results. I even tried connecting my Samsung Note 4 using the Samsung MHL adapter. The picture just shows up for a split second then disappears. Anyways, here's my video showing the problem I have with the unit.

Picked up a couple things from the dealer today...

First is the 14+ ELITE badge for the rear liftgate

and then I've been trying to figure out how I want to do this USB in dash thing. The one I posted earlier, is a little thick for the OEM hole where the cig plugs are in the front, so I'd have to make the hole bigger. Which also means once I go bigger, it's not getting back to OEM size. So, I ordered the USB plug for the 14+. The only issue with that is the OEM wiring isn't there and it's not easily wired. However, I'm just looking to be able to charge something, or be able to plug in something to the NavTool box so I bought the cover for like $2 and I'm going to try to retrofit it. I'll hopefully be able to tinker with it this weekend. The plate is color coated to any interior

Got the NavTool hooked up and AppleTv hooked up in the rear. Still playing with the wiring and how I want to get all the wiring done for the NavTool piece. It has 3 inputs and will be using all of the for different things. Currently have my iPhone mirrored and an old iPod connected... I'll go in to more details on that later... :D

And @RyTone, I know how to fix your issue, while it's playing (and the screen is going in and out and the top is messing up) press and hold the info button for 3ish seconds. Black, white and grey lines will appear on the screen and it'll continue messing up. Start turn the Nav wheel to the left until the top lines stop moving. Then press the NavTool center button down.

Use page 4 of the manual

I read that too but it didn't work for me on the HDMI input. It only would work on the composite inputs.

So after trying multiple cables and trying to connect the Micca Speck G2 media player, I couldn't get the picture to stay on the screen. When looking at other forums, they all used iPhone/iPad HDMI adapters to play content so I decided to give it a try and it actually worked fine. Strange that it only plays HDMI content from Apple devices though.

OK so I finally had a minute today to install the USB charger from earlier in the thread. We are taking a 5+ hour road trip tomorrow so I really wanted to get this done before then.

It took maybe 30 minutes once I started actually looking in to it. I could get my hand behind the cig plugs without removing the entire center console. I just used T-taps for power and ground so it'll turn off/on with the key.

The cover closes completely which was a big deal for me.

The hole needed for the dual USB plug is just a hair bigger than the OEM opening and cig plugs. that means I had to dremel out the opening just a little. Now the OEM plug will move loosely in the opening if I ever have to go back to stock. But I think some hot glue will keep it in place.

I also found out the 2014+ USB cover will fit and clip in to the opening (top or bottom) so I still plan on looking in to retrofitting it in some way. I need the 2 USB up front so I will keep the dual on bottom though...

Here's the USB adapter ready to go. You can see the T-taps I used for power/ground

Nice! That's exactly what I want to do.
How did the stock socket come out? Were there push tabs or...?
Were you able to do all the work by just removing the kickpanel in the driver's footwell?

#32 ·
Just returning from a 10 hour round trip car ride. USB plugs worked great. AppleTv worked great in the rear NavTool worked fine after figuring out a few of my own issues... Lol

Inside the socket there's 2 black small tabs to push out and then you can pull the lighter out towards you.

i was able to get to everything by just removing the drivers side kick panel and getting my hand up in there.

#34 ·
Does you stock one do more than just charge? If not, yeah, just replace it. I guess there's always a chance of needing one cig plug for something. There's a cig plug on the drivers see behind the 3rd row if ever needed as well

Finally put some LED's in the back up lights. Had a bunch of Amazon gift cards that I haven't used so i got them form there instead of SuperBrightLEDs.com like normal. There's another thread on here with a guy saying for the reverse lights he couldn't tell between the 800 lumens and 1200, so for $15 I got these. Not bad, same brightness as stock, just a better light.

Robot Check (not sure why it says robot check. It's a link to JDM ASTAR 7440 bulbs on Amazon)

Here's a really bad pic of the difference between stock (right) and LED (left)

Still have a little list of stuff to do to this thing. Guess I need to hop back on it.

bit off topic..

Can you remove the grill without taking of whole bumper?

Reason I am asking is I am thinking to install front fog lights....

I know taking front bumper is not too hard but just curious...

TIA
