Got a call from my dealer today announcing that my EXL-RES Havasu Blue arrived today!! I will post some pictures of the car once I pick it up since there does not seem to be any Havasu Blues pics posted yet. I hope we like the color since it will be the first time that we will be able to see it in the flesh.

My salesman was Dave Bamford from Crown Honda in St. Petersburg Florida, who has been honest and done a nice job so far. I ordered the car a few months ago and got the car at MSRP.

Havasu Blue Pictures

We received our car as promised. We are very happy with the Havasu Blue and are getting lots of compliments on the color. We find the color quite rich and interesting. As you can see from the picures, the color appears different in different lighting. In bright light, it looks light blue bordering on silver. In normal lighting, it looks blue. In dim lighting it looks torqouise.

In the picture below with the door open you can see the more lighted area to the left looks blue while the shaded area to the right looks more green. Our dealership and salesman did a great job. They were always perfectly honest, delivered the car on time at MSRP. I give them highest marks, especially our salesman Dave Bamford. I was especially impressed by his monthly emails updating me on the status and his always prompt email replies (even on Sundays!). The dealership is Crown Honda in St. Petersburg, Florida. Our salesman can be reached at dbamford@CrownDealerships.com or 727-521-4000.

Havasu Blue

My wife and I have a Havasu Blue on order and it should be in in the end of May early June. Color looks nice to me and you should not run into to many other vans in this color. We are looking forward to owning a van that is not in the shop every 4 weeks (Former van was a 1999 Chevy Express Custom Craft conversion and it was a nightmare). Chevy not Custom Craft !!!!

Speaking of waiting for HB...we've been at it since mid December. Our small dealer was finally able to order in Feb, lost his early May allocation, and is now telling us late June early July:mad:. We are stuck with waiting because all other dealers are full MSRP. I can wait a little longer for $1000.:D

The Havasu Blue can be seen in the flesh (well, steel) at Meyer Honda, in Fairview Heights, Illinois. They had two on Saturday. I must say that the same folks must have named that color that named the Granite Green (gray), Hee! Hee! If that's blue, I'll eat your sweat socks, if you send them post-paid.

I give up on HB (i.e. seafoam green)

Darn...

OK Honda, your stupid name calling has cost me months of not being able to drive one of your vans. I waited patiently, and nicely and quietly I might add, for your redition of a blue van...but nooooooo. You idiots drank a bunch of xxx when naming colors. All I wanted was a nice blue van (like Toyota's blue for instance). Had I known that your blue was seafoam green or vintage Civic green or '95 Accord green then I would have done ordered a stinkin MB van waaaaay back in the dark ages of Dec 2001!!!:D

So hear goes fellow odyers. Called the dealer...he still has no word on HB availability. So I told him to cut that deal and get us a Mesa Beige. Voila, just last week he did an "on-line" trade with a KCMO (Kansas City, MO) dealer and swapped a GG for a MB. Bingo, this van has a built date of 5/20-5/24 and expected delivery of 6/3-6/7. Wow, new kid, business trip halfway across the country and new van all in one week! Whew. I'll manage I quess.

Finally, I can start tweeking with this vehicle like ripping out the stock speakers, put in a sub, put in decent head unit, put in fogs, put in DVD, etc. etc. etc.

Ahhhh. I feel much better.:D :D

P.S. I don't mean to offend any lovers of SeaFoam Green. Not that Seafoam green is a bad color. I just don't like it being called Blue. Call it what it is. For those what like seafoam green...great. I just wish Honda would call 'em like I see 'em... White/Black/Gold/Gray/Burgandy/Silver/Dark Green/Sea Foam Green.:D

Havasu blue impressions

--Hee! Hee! If that's blue, I'll eat your sweat socks

Yeh. I would call it a blue-green. Very similar in color to my old bmw 325 convertible which BMW called "morea green."

Neither company named it accurately but I like the color anyway.

Love the van though wish it had:
1) Memory seats
2) An integrated window or bumper antenna (hate the whip)
3) Power rear hatch
4) Power passenger seat
5) Less road vibration transmitted through the sterring wheel at 75 mph--is this normal??

On the positive side:
1) Air conditioner is fantastic, especially in the back.
2) The RES is terrific. Have never seen my kids ( 2 and 3) so quiet in a car except when sleeping. Listening to Elvis Costello in the front while kids listen to Toy Story in the back with earphones is a real treat.
3) Love the extra room. Makes my wife's X5 seem like a Civic.
4) Power doors rule!!
5) Comfortable and easy to drive.
