Hi, thinking about replacing all the O2 sensors on my 05 EXL. Did some research, and found that both NTK and Denso are the most popular ones used. I wonder if anyone has any opinion about one vs another?

I don't know the condition of all my o2 sensors, but never replaced them under my ownership. and recently had seen P0420 and P0430 came up along with the VCM P2646. I poured a bottle of CataCleaner into it. The P0420 and P0430 went away initially, and then still came up, but not at the same time. However, after installing the VCM Tuner to disable the VCM, those codes are gone so far. Not sure those codes were caused by the VCM issue.

Also, replacing all of them with NTK is pretty pricey cuz the bank1 sensor 1 is $135 a piece. two is $270. any other alternative(cheaper)?

So, my questions are:
1) Should I change all those O2 sensors on a car with over 250K? Even after those codes don't show up anymore.
2) Since the O2 sensors can potentially impact the gas mileage, I wonder if new O2 sensors will help the mileage since VCM is disabled, which hurts the mileage. Not sure the cost of all those new O2 sensors will be justified by that disabled VCM though.
3) I wonder if anyone has any successful stories with other brands, other than NTK/Denso? mainly for cheaper alternatives. Rockauto sells others for little cheaper price.

Thanks

Denso or NTK are both good and recommended. I would go with NTK.

Should be much cheaper on Rock Auto.

Cleaning will not resolve anything.

Denso or NTK. NTK is the OEM for a lot of Hondas, so I have read from this and other forums.

They are very reliable until about 150K miles. After that I consider them a low-priority maintenance item.

Replace them if they are coding or fuel mileage is consistently lower than normal.

What's your van's mileage?

Are you getting CEL's due to the O2 sensors?
yes, before having the VCM code. Put in bottle of CataCleaner, they went away. After replacing the valve cover gasket, the two came back with the VCM code P2646. After another bottle of CataCleaner, haven't seen it again after disable the VCM.

now, I wonder if I should replace them to improve the gas mileage.

the van has over 250k on it, and the recent mileage estimate is about 22 combined city/highway?

NTK or Denso. Just know that Denso doesn’t come with the clips which isn’t a big deal. I use a tie strap through a tie strap to secure to bracket.

I purchased a Bosch in emergency because it was all the parts store had at the moment. It 💩 out after 50k miles. $100+ loss. I’d never recommend Bosch for a Honda vehicle.
