Power Door Issues - Won't Close!!!

I was wondering when this was going to happen but I never thought it was going to happen on both doors!!!

Before I take the Ody in to the dealer to get checked, I wanted to run this by all of you first.

When either door closes, there's that additional pull, almost like the pulleys suck the rear of the door in about a quarter of an inch, then releases to normal flush level with the rear of the van when the door is "normally" closed.

The problem on my Ody is that I don't see it do that "suck". The door then opens and I've gotta wrestle it shut.

Things I have done to troubleshoot:
- Check for any obstructions
- Regrease tracks
- Cleaned contacts (little silver fellas)
- Verify that all seals are in place both on the door and the body

The only way to get the doors to close now is to give it a push just at the right time when it is closing. Like I said, it's both doors which really peaves me. I've had pretty good luck with my Ody except for this.

Any help from anyone would be awesome.

Thanks in advance and take care.

Dan

Not to get in a long and extensive response, this sounds like failure within the latch assembly in the particular sliding door itself.

There have been numerous threads on this very same problem, many have had interesting results including hitting the latch assembly multiple times with a hammer and re-installing for a fix. (not a recomended cure)

I remember replying to this problem many times over and those older threads might explain it in more detail than I could explain now, but I'm just too tired to type or search..

However, I have personally fixed a few dozen of these same complaints by replacing a faulty sliding door latch assembly..

I'm new to this place but hear me out.. I just helped diagnose one of these a while back. The concern was the same as yours.. Here's what we found..

Door slides in to close and stops.. But when you manaully close the door and hit the open button or pull the handle, it opens fine..

The solution is to put in a new door latch. What happens is that when the door closes, there's a closing motor that pulls the door close that last notch and if the latch isn't functioning correctly, the motor doesn't do its job..

That's all the info I can give..

Thanks for the replies. How long does replacing the latch take and how difficult is it?
