Well it seems like its that time again and I figured I would beat anyone else to it. If you would post your prices paid in the following order, it would help a lot.

Vehicle Price: $xx,xxx.xx
Destination: $xxx.xx
Doc Fees: $xxx.xx
Taxes: $x,xxx.xx

2012 Touring Elite (Polished Metal)

Vehicle price- $41,591
Destination fee- $810.00
Accessories- $105.10 (splash guards, folding cargo mat, cargo tray)
Dealer fee- $599 (can't seem to escape this in South Florida)
FL tire fee- $5.00
FL batt. fee- $1.50
tax & tag- $2861.70
Doc fee- 140.70
NO trade in
OTD- 46114.00
2.09% apr

And free car washes whenever I want :nice:

There are NONE where I live. We searched most of the state. The only reason I found one was because our dealership had some certain Civic SI that was in demand and traded with a New Jersey Dealership. 2011's are still going for more that I paid for this, so I am happy.

How far is the drive home from NC. For $2,000 I'd have looked elsewhere and I wouldn't have paid a $600.00 fee unless the dealer would sell the van at or under invoice. I see red when dealers start talking about document fees and carp like that although I realize for some it is a fact of life.

There is about a 1500.00 tax & tag difference which is where most of the OTD cost is different between my vehicle and the one in NC. Besides the tax, the dealer fee is about all that I would have saved, which is not enough for the hassle of buying and transporting the car from NC to South Florida. Our tag registration for a new vehicle is $400 regardless of where the car is purchased.

There was a message on our answering machine today from another dealer (one of only 2 in the state that has the TE, though others were on order) from when I was still calling to find who would beat the price we were getting. He said, that according to there computer, there are only 2 TEs in the state and he doubts very much (basically calling me a liar  ) that I could get the vehicle for what I told him. I called him back to let him know that I did buy the car for that price and where. He told me that the dealership I bought the car from deserved a big hand from me because no-one else would have sold it to me that cheap. He said good luck and enjoy the van.

I definitely will!

Trish

P.S. umkai, did you have a trade-in?

#7 ·
Yes we did have a trade in (2007 Honda Pilot EX-L with Navigation, 2WD, 38K miles in near excellent condition) and that wasn't the plan. We planned to sell the car privately for KBB price (around 20K with good condition) until we knew our friend got his 2008 traded in for good price in that dealer. The dealer offered 18,800 at the end and we saved 3% tax of that (equivalent to 19,364 with the tax credit). The difference between what they offered and the price we can possibly sell privately was small enough so we just killed two birds with one stone.

Folks,

Close to pulling the trigger.... Is $2,285 below MSRP (no dealer fees) for a 2012 coming in 1 week a good deal? We figured the price difference between 2011 and 2012 is only less than $600 or so...

Zdenver, how was your experience dealing with Planet Honda? Appreciate if you can share. Please PM me if you prefer to do it privately. Read some bad reviews online and we didn't contact them.

Thanks!

2012 EX-L RES, Black

Well, I've joined the Honda family for the first time. We traded in our beloved Acura TL to accommodate the little one on the way (our third).

Vehicle: $35,672
Appearance protection: $299 (floor mats, cargo tray, splash guards)
Dealer/Doc fee: $499
Taxes, Title, License: $1,679
OTD: $38,149

Local credit union has 1.79% for up to 66 months.

Based on the dealer's quick acceptance of the $35,672 price I threw out, maybe I didn't push hard enough. But overall I'm happy with the deal.

(Note that there was a trade in, reducing some taxes)

Don't Do a Lease

For anyone considering a lease or looking for cheaper payments, I highly recommend looking into financing your car through Pentagon Federal Credit Union. I've used their "Payment Saver" program twice now and love it!

It's basically the same low payment as a lease but without the added Bull fees. No acquisition fee, no disposition fee, no mileage restrictions, no gap insurance, etc. I even financed it for 5 years. At the end of the 5 yrs there's a residual value (balloon payment due). At that point, I can pay it off, refinance again or sell the van. I don't even need to wait 5 yrs to sell the van if I want to get out of it sooner.

I'm not military but they will let you join the credit union anyway for a $20 membership fee (1-time only fee). I feel it's been totally worth it.

My monthly payment on my new van is just $196/month! Crazy!

I hope this helps someone out there...

I second the PenFed recommendation. We have used them for major refinances/LOCs in the past, and also put the new TE through them. They have a 1.99% on 48 month auto loans. Honda was at 3.2% for 60 months on 2012s.

2012 Odyssey EX-L Mocha Metallic
Price: $34,660
Tax: $2166.25
Other taxes and fees (including TTL): $300
OTD: $37,125.57

No trade-in, and I brought my own financing. I had them tint the windows, otherwise it was stock.

Dealer: Matt Alpers at Round Rock Honda

Editorial: I started looking for 2011 models in June. I talked to dealers all over Texas and got all kinds of annoyance from them via phone and email. None of them were willing to budge on price because of the limited supply. I didn't hear a single price remotely like what people on this board reported except for one sales guy who lied to me (I'd name the dealer but I don't remember which). None of my conversations on the phone got me anything good, nor any of the car quote web sites. I spent probably 30 hours getting nowhere good. It was a pain.

I finally got a halfway decent deal set up in Houston for a 2011, and just happened to call my local dealer. He offered me a 2012 they had coming in for barely more than the Houston dealer was offering on a 2011. We got it worked out, he kept me updated on delivery progress, and I settled everything at the dealer in less than an hour. I might have been able to get a slightly better price elsewhere, but I doubt I would have gotten it with less hassle.

hey all, i just stopped by a honda today since we had a party at a family members house. test drove a 2012 touring elite silver, truffle.

sat down with the sales guy for about 20 mins total. then he brought his manager over when we started to talk price. he said if i buy today he can do invoice.

Is invoice on a '12 odyssey good target? i think i still need go to another dealer anyway to see if they can give me invoice. then i will go with the one who gives me the best price on my trade in.

i will take all your suggestions and email/call some dealers in the next few days.

Invoice for TE is damn good. Supply is pretty limited and most I've talked to wanted at least $800-$1500 over invoice. Just make sure they don't rip you off on add-ons or accessories.

Hi all California buyers, I saw one purchase from Buena Park Honda listed here, Sonic is corporate owner of Buena Park Honda and Carson Honda both in the Los Angeles area. Poway Honda is a San Diego County dealership owned by this same owner group. In the Los Angeles area they are offering @ $1500- $ 2500 off sticker. In San Diego they are offering @$ 500 off sticker. I confronted the Poway sales manager about the different discounts and I was told local market conditons don't require larger discounts to sell Odyssey's. I suggest you do a google search for Sonic group owned dealerships in your local area of California to obtain a decent price. I have owned 2 Odysseys and have had to drive 100 miles north to Los Angeles to get a reasonable price on both of them. I guess I will do the drive again to save $ 2000 on Odyssey #3. Most California Honda dealers aren't discounting much off sticker except these owned by Sonic. You can go to the dealers web site and see the up front price listed on each Odyssey with the discount clearly listed. They have much lower than average used Odyssey prices too. I am sure this will make it harder for me to purchase Odyssey #3 but I just happened upon this info and had to share it. Good Luck !

Newbie here. I just brought my new EX-L home last night. I paid:

Base: $30925 (including $199 dealer processing)
Accessories (Roof rails and backup sensors): $862
Destination: $810
6% MD Tax: $1956
TTL: $325

$34878 OTD
(or $33964 if you take off the accessories)

This is almost $700 under invoice so I think I did pretty well! Loving the van so far.

Wow! That's $1K below 2012 invoice. Congrats and enjoy the van!

Newbie in NJ

Proud new owners of a 2012 Crystal Black Pearl with Gray Interior Odyssey EXL. We have 3 kids 6 and under, so I see the $345 for Resistall as an insurance policy for the interior. We also live by the ocean, so we get lots of sun and salt water on the exterior. It was kind of an impulse buy after a very patient e-mail only price negotiation process with several dealers. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and the price.

Trim:EXL
Vehicle Price: $31,007.76
Destination: $810.00
Doc Fees: $195.00
Taxes: $2251.39
Tags: $413.10
Other: $345.00 Resistall 7 Year Contract

Total OTD: $35022.25

Oops! I just posted this in the 2011 thread. Sorry.
I just brought home my 2012 EX-L with RES in Smokey Topaz with Truffle interior.
This was to replace my 2004 EX-L with RES that had 160,000+ miles on it and had a few issues that concerned us a bit for down the road.

I got 4k for our trade, which according to Edmunds.com was about 1k higher than it should have been.

We got the new one for $33,500 - 4k for trade in plus $399 doc/reg fees and tax and with the 1.9% financing deal.

Did I do okay?
