This is actually a cut and paste from my post in 'Problems & Concerns' concerning my tranny problems. I thought I'd re-post here to warn everyone to stay away from Rusty Wallace Honda in Knoxville.
From the post:
I'm getting a new tranny - Yippee!!
The good news - American Honda is doing the right thing and replacing my 2001 tranny with 42,000 miles due to a torque converter seal leak. The tranny fluid is so burned that it looks like old engine oil.
The bad news - Some Honda dealerships are still dishonest using all kinds of tactics to seperate Honda owners from their money (I know, where's my shock face!!!).
I had an appointment today at Rusty Wallace Honda (yes, THAT Rusty wallace) in Knoxville, TN. The service department had my van for an hour when they informed me that they were ordering a new transmission and that it would be in Monday. Then they asked me if I had made arrangements for transportaion today, as the leak was serious enough that they did not want me to drive home with the van. I said, NO, I did not make arrangements. I was hoping for a loaner car. They informed me that since I did not buy my car from Rusty, I was not intitled to their free loaners. I said that I did not expect Rusty to loan me a car; I expected American Honda to pay for my rental. The Service Manager said "American Honda has no provision for providing you with a paid rental, you can, however, get a diiscounted vehicle from us for $30 a day". I asked when the van would be fixed and they said "Tuesday". Imagine my dismay that I would now have to pay $150 for a rental when this problem is completely Honda's fault.
Thanks to these boards, I knew that American Honda had indeed paid for car rentals for this type of tranny repair. As Rusty's service manager searched to find me a rental van, I stepped outside and called West Side Honda (also in Knoxville). I asked to speak with the service manager and explained to him that I just got verification that my tranny was bad from good ol' Rusty and that they were ordering me a new tranny, but Rusty wanted me to pay for my own rental car. West side Honda's Svc. Mgr. said "Nonsense, If your tranny is covered by the extended warranty and your tranny is found to be defective, you WILL get a free rental car."
At this point I told the West Side Honda Svc. Mgr. (Ron Fox) that I would be there within the hour. I asked Rusty for my keys and told them to hold off on ordering my tranny and that I would first pressure Honda for a free car. They waved as I drove off - straight to West Side. Within 30 minutes, they confirmed that my torque converter seal was indeed leaking and that they were ordering me a new tranny. Hertz was on its way with a free rental for the five days that I would be out of use of my van and AMERICAN HONDA was paying for it all.
GOOD JOB! West Side Honda and American Honda.
SHAME ON YOU (Piss on you as they say in the South) Rusty! You tried to rip off another Honda customer, but little did you know that I went in to the dealership armed with knowledge gained from the ODYCLUB boards. Rusty Wallace Honda LIED to me. (Once again, where DID I put my shock face??).
For anyone looking for honest service, STAY AWAY from Rusty Wallace Honda of Knoxville. Unless you want to contribut to this loser's racing season and his continuing denial that he is past his prime as a Nascar driver and his dishonest dealership's cheating ways.
I'm off my soapbox now and, for the next five days, behind the wheel of a new Chevy Malibu, which, although not bad for a Chevy, still doesn't hold a candle to my 10 year old Accord EX.
American Honda - Thumbs Up!
West Side Honda - Thanks for being there for me and for treating the customer right.
Rusty Wallace Honda - Eat Me - you thieving bunch of low lives!! Stay away from Rusty Wallace Honda in Knoxville!! Unless your a sado-masochist.
