I have 2007 Odyssey EX and recently, it started making strange noise only when stopped at traffic lights. It's very subtle irregular rattling noise. Sounds like some bird or squirrel is caught in engine compartment and flapping and scratching plastic parts. And seems to be coming from the driver side of engine bay. So small animal is what I first thought so I opened the hood and of course there's nothing there. Doesn't happen all the time and not sure if it is coincidence but only happened when stopped at traffic light so far. When I put the car in park and try to find the source, it doesn't happen. So I'm suspecting transmission issue but what kind of problem can make that kind of noise?

By the way 77,000 miles.

Heat shields on exhaust manifolds....
Thanks but wouldn't that make metallic noise? This is more like plastic... or liquid. Really does sound like a bird trapped inside. I did say it comes from driver side but I was inside the cabin on driver's seat. I know source of sound can be misleading from the cabin. By the way, I've replaced serpentine belt about 3 months ago and no problems with it so far.

Or could it be the brake fluid since that's only thing I'm applying when stopped at traffic light? No problem with braking however and there's no visible fluid leak and brake fluid level seems good.

It certainly can't hurt to get underneath and hit it a few times. If it's tight, you can cross it off the list.

If it is loose, a couple of well placed stainless steel hose clamps will often solve the issue, and long as doesn't get too rusted out.
