Thoughts on the trashbag ring

I personally think the trashbag ring is a g8 idea. However, it needs more improvement, which I didn't see even in the mid-life refresh Ody. You can easily fit any grocery bag in, but it's just too loose. If you add any heavy trah in the bag, if may fall easily. If honda can make it a double-ring to hold and tuck the bag, rather than hang it, it will be much nicier...Indeed I'm wondering anyone can make an aftermarket one, it shouldn't be hard.

We discussed this before and many of us do not like it after trying it for a few times. The problem for me is that the ring in the extended position sticks out in the middle of the second row, which makes it difficult for people, children in particular, to walk across the row. If you have young children, they also love to kick it and jump in it. The hook by the front passenger side is all that we need for a trash bag. I wish Honda does not over engineer this car with features that sound great but not that useful in reality. It is better they put more effort in the mechanic of the car to make it a better car first.

Happyvan, you would be thrilled to know about that Vacuum they now are going to include in the Oddy. LOL. :D

Apparently making the car drives better does not capture the headline any more.
That has been an issue starting with the 3rd gen. I was hopeful they would have fixed it with the 4th gen. 2nd gen did NOT have any lugging issues but had tranny issues. 3rd gen and now 4th gen has chronic lugging issues which are aggrevating at best. Ah well. :)

I have never used the trash ring. Why? I have kids. They will step on it and break it, it's in the way, and the trash bag will fall out. This was not designed by a person that has any true concept of kids piling in and out of a vehicle. I use that nifty hook in front passenger spot to hang a grocery bag. Works great.

Never used it yet..and dont want to show to the kids either...they will break it really quick. Yeah, I have been putting the grocery bag in the front for trash.

Nice on paper, but not a real world necessity. Wonder how many vans are running around without it because it ended up being snapped off.

I keep DVDs in my cool box. I don't do anything with the trash ring. Nice idea, doesn't work well. (We had it set up briefly but my oldest kept shoving candy wrappers under the baby's car seat even though the trash ring was RIGHT THERE...)

It has good intentions but can be pretty flimsy.

That's a good place to put it. It's roughly in the same place but can't fall off or be stepped on

wrt the active head restraints issue mentioned above - I understand following the letter of the law in the manual but I can't imagine most people throw any thing away that could weigh enough to really be a concern. Kleenex and candy wrappers mostly. But the armrest method would of course eliminate any doubt.

I don't think it's a matter of training your kids. The ring is badly placed. You can't use the middle seat with it up. I have a RF car seat in that seat so that doesn't matter much but I keep a diaper bag on the floor. It's just a bad placement poorly thought out. No need to insult people's parenting over it.
