Hi! I’m hoping to buy a very cheap/low mileage 2010 Honda Odyssey. The current owner says it won’t start and thinks it’s the starter.
(he has no time to fix or place to store it)

I talked to my mechanic and he said to turn/rotate the engine manually to know that the engine is in good working condition. He said to rotate it clockwise.

Upon looking into how to rotate an engine manually on a 2010 Odyssey, I haven’t found any information or instructional videos.
Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction, (through advice, video links or information) on to manually turn the engine to see if it’s ok? (Not seizing up )

As well, any advice for things to look for, things to ask him when I view the car?

Thank you for your time!

Find a 19mm socket, 0.5 inch drive or larger; about 15 or more inches of extension, and a 24" or longer breaker bar (or ratchet and length of pipe that will slip over the ratchet). Now, turn crank bolt clockwise (have ratchet switch in position to tighten a normal bolt/nut).

The crank, main shaft bolt is on the right side behind passenger front wheel.

Can one turn wheel all the way to the right and get to crank bolt with out removing left front tire? Not sure.

Regardless, In the right wheel well there is a circular spliced hole, in plastic baffle, behind wheel.
That is where you would insert a tool to turn motor over.

Just not sure you can access w/o removing tire.

Manually rotating the engine would tell if it's seized or not. Even if it rotates, it could still have other major problems.

I wouldn't buy a car with a non-operating engine. Too risky.
