Not today, but yesterday I did the following:
Oil change
Transmission fluid drain and fill
Rotated tires
New engine air filter
New cabin air filter
Bought and installed a new Interstate MTP-24F battery.

 

Last week did the following:

Replaced Timing Belt, Water Pump, Tensioner, Serpentine Belt, Front Ready Struts and Right Motor Mount

Next on the list Rear Springs w/Rubber Isolators, Power Steering Pump w/O rings and Reservoir and finally Moog F/E kit then I can rest.

 

Alternator went, towed and replaced w/Denso - moving forward w/my list to do

 

I drove my daughter to school then off to work this morning in the Ody.
Picked her up after work and now I am home.

Within the last 2 months, I replaced the driver side Mid-roller with a life time one and disabling the alarm using the same method as "thscott"

With all the time and money I have invested in it, it's better be around for while to pay me back 🤣

Last weekend I installed Timbren bump stops in the rear, and a Tru-cool 4544 and PS cooler in the front. This will allow me to pull a boy scout cargo trailer for a campout this weekend with less worry. If the question is more literally just today, all I did was drive my kids around and listen to Meat Puppets II.

 

Last night we hit this milestone.

And in the same night I heard my power steering whine at full lock. Today, at full lock, the whine is even worse. If it wasn't raining I'd be inspecting for leaks right now. So today, I've added another thing to my list.

 

My Ody got another "free" alignment at Firestone. They have a "lifetime alignment" deal, it cost about $180-200, pay once and do as many alignments as you want. Probably a useful thing for a used car.

 

I've had a 5 year alignment at NTB before. They get you with upselling. Not really worth it.

 

Wasn’t today but a couple of weeks ago I installed a Garmin BC40 wireless backup camera on my ‘06 EXL-RES paired to a Garmin Drivesmart 55 GPS. Made a custom mount for the camera and mounted it to the inside on the rear glass. Best thing I’ve added since I bought the van. It works absolutely wonderful. Supplied Garmin license plate mount is a total joke, there is zero security from having the camera stolen in 2 sec.

 

Did you have an OEM backup camera on your Ody? I have one on my 09 and it is almost useless the display is so dim. Also, do you have a photo of your mount?

 

Put in a battery post shim on the positive terminal of the battery.. order rear wipers at the back.

changed out air intake tube on thursday. Changed S-VCM and cleaned throttle body.

 

I finally got new tires today (well technically yesterday, but whatever). I went with the Continental Control Contact Tour A/S Plus from Discount Tire. Hopefully these will last me longer than the less than 30k miles I got on my last set, the Bridgestone Ecopia EP422+.

And of course, these same tires are now on a flash sale for $110 off....lucky me.

EDIT: I got it pricematched. All is well.

 

Last Thursday my battery (4 year old Duralast Gold) was being weird, had it tested, discovered it was failing. Replaced with Diehard Platinum AGM - I have a super short commute to work and thought to give the AGM a shot. I still have front lower control arms, tie rod ends and sway bar end links to put on in the next week or so.

 

I did the lower control arms and the sway bar links on my 2004 Odyssey and still had some noise from the front when stopping. I bought sway bar bushings from Autozone and had to buy bolts that were a little longer to get them fastened in. That took care of the last noise in the front end. Have fun!

 

Changed the transmission fluid. Been 30k miles (125k now). Used mity vac to suck the fluid through the dipstick. Took 5 min. Pulled 3L. Replaced through top of tranny. Quickest change I‘ve ever done.

 

 

Just last week, had the alternator replaced. On way home from dropping the kids off it decided to short and start smoking.

 

I had to replace the 4 piston rings on my 210 odyssey touring at 104K. Took two trips to NJ from MI. So far no problem. Was hesitant to go throuh the hills and tunnels of PA turnpike.

Have you looked into muzzling your VCM?

 

I have a 2007 Touring (since new) which now still has under 80K miles . In the last year or so I de-Paxed using Ridgeline wheels from the same era and tires matching the outside diameter of the Michelins , added VCM Muzzler I (in Florida , so summer/winter is temperate) , and performed partial transmission drain/refill recently after noting some minor shifting anomalies ( which went away ). I plan to repeat the trans fluid drain&refill again soon . I just made a 150 mile trip on back roads (and maybe two dozen stoplights in congested areas) and got 24 mpg with VCM disabled . I wish I had done the Muzzler much earlier - just for how well the engine runs in town and on trips .

 

I know there's been one or two threads like this in the past, but they seem to be abandoned. I want to try and keep this going, even if I have to do it myself.

My 2009 EX-L is sitting at 125K. This summer we replaced the tie rods, did general maintenance and brakes. I love this van and will drive it until the wheels come off. Thanks to the Ody Club found a bluetooth system for it a few years ago and can get audio and calls over the speakers. I am wondering, however, if there is anything we might consider doing to ensure its longevity outside of factory specified maintenance? My biggest concern buying it (new) was the "eco mode" and the fact a cylinder dropped out at certain speeds. But knock on wood, no problems there. We do change oil religiously. Maybe that helps.

That's VCM. I'd disable it if you want to drive peacefully with no issues.

 

OH, and we drained/changed the transmission fluid.

I had a 2005 Ody with 300K on it. Traded for 2018 Ody, 65K now. (Have 2008 Ridgeline also). After you vac out the 3 quarts from tranny, are you putting it back through the dipstick tube or is there a bolt/cap on top of tranny to remove and refill? Do you have a diagram?I am retired now and starting to do most of my service. Did VCMTunerII, oil, all 3 filters, fixing to do tranny fluid and differential.
Do you and others have other shortcuts for servicing, fluid changes etc? THANKS!

 

There is a fill port/plug on top of the transmission case. You’ll need to use a 1/2 inch breaker bar and an extension to break it free. There is also a crush washer that would need to be replaced.

For draining, just remove the drain plug. No need to vacuum it out through the dipstick tube.

My wifes 06 ate up tires I got tired of replacing with expensive michilens every 32000 I went with ohatsu form americas tire . seemed to wear as well until I sold it .

I drove it today. I don't think you need a picture.

 

Just been driving it mostly. Changed the front wiper blades last week and had the tires rotated and balanced a few weeks ago. Also, flipped 170K miles on the odometer a few weeks ago as well.

I know this place! I slept in my Ody there! It’s beautiful. That building behind you is the restrooms and showers. I love Confluence. Nice tent kit. Did that come from Honda?

BTW - The cost of that tent plus 10 nights at the campground (with my senior discount) totalled under $500 !
My Scottish heritage says that was a good investment .

 

That is definitely one of the best inventions for the Ody.

What is the name of that tent especially with the improvised connection portion covering the Ody tailgate?

 

P.S. even the snorkel has a screen . If you drive off after disconnecting the snorkel just make sure you let the exhaust system cool on your return before re-attaching the snorkel , to avoid damaging it .

 

3x tranny flush and refill. Replaced tranny filter as well.
