Amsoil

In all seriousness, I have one more Amsoil EAO13 filter to use then I'll be switching to the larger EAO filter (I think 20). either DavedrivesODY or another member has the part number listed in thier sig.

I'm drinking the Amsoil coolaid for now. Again, in June, I'll be sending a sample of my oil to Blackstone to see if Amsoil is lieing to us all.
Its the EA020... I use it along with the 0w20...

I just recently heard that Amsoils filters are not the only ones on the market which are glass fiber. Does anyone know who makes Amsoils filters? The ones that I have for the Tortoise are EAO34. Stamped on the top of each filter is "Made in Mexico" and the date. The bypass valve is orange (which makes me think Honeywell). I heard a little rumor that Fram makes glass fiber filters.....has anyone else heard that? (I haven't done any research on it yet).

(Edited for spelling and grammer which was awful...)

I use Purolator PL14559 or WIX
51344 ( aka NAPA Gold 1344) on my 2000 LX . Oil (Valvoline synthetic ) and filter 2x year <7,500 mi chgs . Wix 2181 air filter every 12-18 months .

(I buy WIX filters for this vehicle and other brands I own at www.filter1.com )

Good tip on those Mann Filters . Maybe I will start using them if I can good a good deal w/shipping .

Some other possibilities -

Hey don't forget to change the engine air filter per the owners manual or more often if in a dusty environment . For me it , is about every 18 months ,

The Mann filter: I have used them for 20 years in my Volvo's and BMW's. Very reputable company.

For the Honda Odyssey, I know Mann makes filters for Honda Odyssey but I have not used it yet. Give it a try. They are cheap, around $5 each.

what about the purolater pureone filters? I got the PL14610. is that ok?
That's what I'm using exclusively. Great filters.

Fram Oil filter helped lead to the demise of my '03 Astro 4.3L. They are the lowest qualty filter out there. They cause your oil pressure to drop and low oil pressure leads to bearing failure in a real short amount of time. Where I work i work on evarything from lawn mowers to 20Ton cranes. It is all about oil filtration I have seen many engines over the years ruined do to lack of good filters. It is not enough to use good oil the filter is the most important part on the engine. Every oil gets dirty but not all filters filter properly. I recommend Wix they make Napa Gold filters and about 60% of OEM filters including AC Delco. If you were to cut open a Wix and a Fram and compare you would be ashamed you ever trusted your engine to a thin piece of cardboard and a dap of glue, that is all Fram uses. Also there is no difference between all the series of Fram filters the only difference is the color and box. Also where i work we send out oil samples for analsys and also send filters out for analsys no problems with the Wix. Many times when an oil sample comes back high in contaminates the ony recommendation is to change the OIL FILTER.

Top of the line.

Check out the Amsoil EA line of air filters...
Think they are about the best out there now.
I am using their EA020 and ASM 0W20 synthetic exclusively now on my 2004...

The EA020 is the full size filter like the one that came on the factory on my 2004, not the new much smaller one (fram) that is being used across the entire honda line now

Draining tonight. I'm just 2 weeks shy of a full year. I'll be using my last EAO13 filter. Next filters will be the EAO20's. I fully expect a terrible report from Blackstone. Guys over at Bob Is the Oil Guy forum seem to think I'll have lot's of fuel dilution. Full report to follow later.

I am very interested in seeing your results since I am running Amsoil ASM 0W20 and the EA020 and was planning on keeping it in there for the full year as well. For me thats only about 6000 miles amd most of my trips are only about 9 miles (distance to work and back) so I would expect the same issue with fuel dilution

Sorry....didn't get to it last night....other things became the priority. I think I'll have about 19K miles on the oil. I've only added about a quart of makeup to it the entire year. I thought that was pretty good. The drain probably won't happen tonight or the next....maybe this weekend....then it will be 2-weeks before I get the Blackstone report back. I'll blank out the blistering personal info at the top and post the PDF.

Sounds good.
If your test report with 19K miles looks OK i know I can easily get by on my 1 year 6000 mile changes...

Blackstone Report.......

I got the Blackstone analysis back. I had 18,502 miles over 364 days on my last oil change. There was approx. 1 quart of "makeup" oil added over that interval. Blackstone said that they were "impressed with these numbers". What ever that means.

Aluminum and iron levels were high. I was very surprised to see that the silicon levels were "normal". I just assumed that with the K&N air filter, that I'd have much worse numbers.....so I guess that's good. Fuel dilution was very low (also big surprise). The folks over on BITG forum lead me to believe that I'd have high fuel dilution.

Overall, I think I'll stick with my once of year oil change interval. What do you guys think?
